I know my daughter is not there yet and after almost 5 months I wish I could see the light at the end of the tunnel. How do you consider your child "potty trained"?
IMO potty trained means being able to recognize the need to pee or poop and getting themselves to the potty in time. I don't think it means they need to be able to do it independently but they need to be able to recognize and respond to the need. An occasiosnal accident is okay but if they are having multiple accidents each week then I don't think they are trained. Or if you have to take them to the potty each versus going on their own I don't think they are trained.
We started introducing DD to the potty right at 2 and started really training at 26 months and she was good by 27 months. We started introducing DS around 22 months but haven't started training yet as he's not quite ready although he does sit on the potty every day.
