I've never seen it before. It looks like an invention of the 2010's. I also don't know if it's supposed to be a girl or boy's name. I would say in this case, there are infinitely better choices out there.
I know it's popular in the south. I like it though. Ainsley and Ansley are pronounced differently. I love Olivia but it's been used. Trying to find something I love as much.
Because Ansley is not a name? It is a modern creation and sounds as such.
It is a surname turned first name. Like Madison, Carter, Ashley etc
Then Epstein, Hasselhoff, and Kardashian are names too? Yes, surnames become names but right now it's being used by relatively few people, so it is not a name like Carter or Ashley to me at all. Some parents are trying to make it happen but I have my doubts.
From a taste perspective, I think it sounds trendy and unappealing. Adding the Lee sound to the end of a random syllable is very trendy. I know a Brynnlee and a Kenley for example. The names feel fluffy and lacking any strength or substance.
I've never seen Ansley before, but just glancing I thought you wrote "Ashley" - might be a little confusing. I have seen Ainsley, which is slightly better imo.

I know lots of people hate this name but why? Olivia was my name but it has been taken. Any other options?
What do you mean it was "taken"?
It was stolen... I mean used by a family member.
Specifically because this name is Olivia, which is in the top 10 anyway, I doubt this is a huge deal. Especially if it isn't someone you would see frequently, I wouldn't even worry about the name already being used. There are going to be a ton of Olivia's everywhere anyway, what is one more?
Well names can't really be taken. If you love the name, use it. Was it a sibling that used it? Or more like a cousin? If it was a cousin, I definitely don't see the problem here.
A sibling... my stupidity for sharing the name I liked. I doubt she would have come up with it on her own otherwise.
Olivia is the #3 name in the country. If she had used Ansley, It might seem weird to use again but I know first cousins with the same name and it's not that big of a deal.
We don't have a big family so it would be extremely weird for us. This isn't unusual for her. I hope she enjoyed the few ideas I did give her bc it won't be happening again.
She who has the baby first gets to name first. You have no idea whether out not she was already thinking about the name, ave she likely was since it's in the freaking top ten. You're not in her head so don't try to say you know exactly what names she was considering. There's no reason you can't still use the name.
My #1 boy name is Henry Louis, after my great grandmother, and my grandmother. We have been wanting to use Henry for a boy since we began TTC over 2 years ago. Now my cousin is pregnant, and we share the same great grandmother and grandmother. My stepbrother's girlfriend is pregnant, and my stepbrother's late father's first name was Henry. DH's brother's wife is also pregnant, and Henry is exactly their style. So there is a very large chance one or more of them will use my boy name. I'm not even pregnant yet, so there's no chance I'll get to use it first. If one of them uses it (even one of the siblings), we will probably use Henry anyway.
A name cannot be stolen, and it doesn't matter if there is more than one in your family.
OP, it sounds like you are bitter about someone using the name you like. You have been given several lovely suggestions in the previous posts, either keep researching other names or say, fuck it, and use Olivia.
Olivia is beautiful and it's also on our girl's list. I don't like trendy names such as Ansley also I think the sound of Ansley is very unappealing. Other names on our girl's list are:
I am a teacher and taught one Ansley and I had to constantly resist the urge to call her Ainsley and I had never taught an Ainsley. I would vote for Ainsely over Ansley
