DOR ladies...come on in! A few random questions...

So, I was straightening my hair this morning before work and had a weird thought.  I'm 29 now...and I've had gray hair since I was about 16.  I think it really started to show once I turned 23 or so.  Anyone else with DOR have gray hair early in life? I'm just wondering if it could possibly be a sign of DOR down the road and if there is a trend among us?

Also...if you have a girl, will you have her ovarian reserve tested early on? We find out the sex of our little bean tonight, but I always wonder about testing since it could be genetic. Just curious about others' thoughts. TIA!

I’m not sure about the gray hair idea. I didn’t notice any grays until I was 29 or 30. I blame my DH for most of my grays :)

In regards to testing I’m not sure. If I have a girl I guess that’s something I would want to wait and talk to her about and if she wants to find out then we can go from there.

I'm 30 with some grays.  My plan is to have IVF be part of her story and she'll know about my DOR and can choose to have her levels tested early to see if she inherited my DOR.  I think we'll just be open about it and she can decide what is best for her and her future family.  I think this would be something she could do in early 20s.

I think both traits can be genetic, although more so with grey hair....but I don't think they necessarily correlate.  My family has history of fertility issues, but we don't grey until later.  I don't have any yet, and my grandfather (who my mom and I take after) still had mostly black hair when he passed at 91.  My mom is the same way.

I'll always let her know about our journey, but I also don't want to freak her out and think she has some ticking clock.  I may encourage testing a little when she gets married or mentions kids.

I'm hoping my DD takes after my mom and grandmother....both who had children very late into their 30's w/o any problems....but when she gets older I will definitely tell her of our struggles.  But like @gsancho said, I don't want  her to think she is a ticking clock.

Thanks ladies. Some great advice...if it is a girl, I definitely don't want her to feel like it's a ticking clock either but want to be open and honest so she can make her own decisions.
