2nd Trimester

Anyone chosen a breastpump yet?

Just wondering what you chose and why. I think I've got a few ideas but am still waiting to meet with an LC at my doctor's office - they have a breastfeeding boutique of sorts with LCs on staff to help you choose a pump, bras, etc.

Anyway, if you've picked one yet I'd love to hear about it!

  • I'm going with a Medela, still undecided on which model. They're recommended by my midwives, and all their products are BPA free...

me, too!  it has great reviews and I've heard it holds up really well.

  • I just got the Medela PISA this past June after having DS. I really liked it. I'm planning on using it again. That's nice that your office has a shop!
  • I registered for mine yesterday online.  there are so many raves about it...its the Medela Electric Pump from BRU.

Its a duo pump, so after regular breast feeeding you can store your milk for your DH and others to help with feedings.

  • Medela freestyle for me too! I talked to my sister about them...she had a manual one for her first and decided it was worth it to buy the fancy kind..so she got a medela and I will too!
  • Medela Pump In Style Advanced Breastpump - Shoulder Bag (BRU Item# 267010).  My sister has a 6 month old and that is the one she uses.  I'm obviously trusting her on this one.  She has never had a problem.  I would advise getting the car charger though to use on the go.

  • My friend, a PA and new mom, told me to register for the Medela Pump in Style.  I was registered for the Freestyle and she told me to change it.
  • Either the Medela PIS or the Medela Freestyle - seems to be the popular choice on here :)
  • Thanks girls! I'm trying to do as much research as I can on the Freestyle vs. PISA. Seems like there are pros and cons on both.

Sometimes I think you don't know what you're missing if you just pick one and don't look back. All these options - not just breastpumps, but everything else! - can make your head spin!

  • anyone considering renting one from the hospital before buying one? ive been told by a lot of new moms that BFing is not a garuntee....so before you put that much money out...to make sure you're going to be able to continue beyond the first few weeks.

    just a thought to consider.

  • The Medela Pump in Style Advance Backpack version. A friend at work has it and says the let-down function is great because it makes pumping much faster. A major plus for any mom, especially if you have a busy job like we do (staff nurses on an oncology floor).
