Bacterial vaginosis at 4wk5d

I went to my dr with some unusual spotting and today got results that I have BV. I read in another post that the antibiotics shouldn't be taken until the second trimester??? Also having some very light pink spotting. So nervouse!!! Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks!!

    Antibiotics are safe in the first trimester if prescribed by your OB. BV can get very nasty and dangerous to both you and baby so you need to treat it ASAP.

    I was given metronidazole and the day after I first used it I had reddish brown spotting and when I called my dr he said it was normal. And BV is very common in pregnancies but it has to be treated or it can complicate things. I'm almost done and I feel fine no spotting or light pink or anything. I was hectic also to taking it but my bff also said she used it during her pregnancy and she has a healthy baby. Just use your judgment. If you feel that it's not what you want ask yout dr for another alternative.

    I'm sorry you are going through this but I would echo everyone else to listen to your doctor.

    Antibiotics are fine. I recently took 7 days of amoxicillin for Group B Strep. My baby is still looking healthier than ever. Trust your OB.

    I'm on amoxicillin bc of an unfriendly UTI, my doctor even showed me where this was okay. Express concerns, but know they know what they are doing. :) feel better!!

    Had my first ultrasound on Monday and saw a healthy heart beat at 8 weeks but this morning I got a call from my doctor who said I am a carrier of Group B Strep. Doctor is putting me on antibiotics and said during labor I will be put on an IV of antibiotics as well. Little scared but doctor didn't seem worried.

    GBS is very common, don't worry about it.
