My SIL had her first baby last Friday and was a little over 2 weeks early. Yesterday they went back for his pediatrician check and his jaundice was bad enough they admitted him to the hospital for light therapy. I can't remember if anyone's lo's here were jaundiced at birth. What are some tips advice I can pass along to her? She's feeling pretty helpless right now.
C developed it about 48 hours after discharge. We went to the ER and they sent us home with a bili blanket. I constantly nursed him and hoped for wet diapers, like stated above. I also sat by the front window and tried to get him as much sunlight as possible.
I agree...feed as much as possible. Ds1 was jaundice but not bad enough to be admitted. I just nursed him like crazy. Basically, he was attached to me the first week.
