How long do these crazy hormones last?

So after having DS of course my hormones were out of whack and I cried at any sad thing I heard. But now anytime I hear of a sad story about any baby or child even if the outcome was great I still bawl! Anyone else still like this? My sister said it could take up to a year to reset your hormones but my gosh this is crazy!

  • I cry more than I ever did while pregnant or ever in my life. I think it's a mom thing. We're just sensitive little humans now.

  • Yup! I assume it's a year. That's what my dr has been saying about my PPD. That could take up to a year and that makes sense that everyone's hormones are still going back to normal, too. Even though mine are more out of whack than others. Lol
  • I agree with pp about seeing every child as your own. I feel the pain of other parents more so then I ever have. I had to unfollow a couple of Facebook pages that I've followed because I was so emotional reading there stuff that I found it was impacting my entire day. I almost feel like I'm now part of this secret club no one told you about until you had a baby. I hope that I can control myself more soon because it can be embarrassing sometimes!!

  • Yes! I cry ALL THE TIME! I cried when someone mentioned the fb video with the nanny hitting the child. I cant handle hearing anything bad about people. I was really upset hearing about the girl with brain cancer that took her life so she didnt have to suffer. She was my age and got married last fall and so did i. I imagined me not being here to take care of DD.
  • Im bawling just reading all these posts. I hope its a hormone thing because im a mess all the time lol I got teary eyed listening to "do you hear what I hear?"

I literally feel sick to my stomach every time I hear an unfortunate news story about a baby or child. I also feel like I had the baby blues again last week along with some of the post partum headaches I had right after DS was born. I think that hormones definitely play a part but becoming a mom is such an emotional change in itself.
  • I actually asked my doc this when I was at our 6 mo appt the other week. She said that if your period is back and regular, then technically your hormones are no longer "crazy". But as PP said that doesn't necessarily mean that things won't affect us the same was they were!

  • I just found out today my sister had a miscarriage :( she was supposed to be 12 weeks yesterday but baby was measuring 9w 6d with no heart beat. I have been crying on and off. Nobody should have to lose a baby :(

I'm so sorry.. I cannot even imagine. There aren't any words.. My prayers are with you all today.
  • Thank you @THD7580‌. I just can't imagine losing a baby.
  • It makes me even more thankful for my healthy little girl :)
