Low blood pressure?

Is anyone else having issues with blood pressure being too low? I'm 5' 2" with a very short torso, and carrying a huge baby (he's measuring almost a month ahead), so he's more or less acting like a plug for my blood supply. Most of the time it only bothers me when I stand in one place for too long, but other times (like today) I get dizzy and start seeing spots for no particular reason. If I don't sit down immediately, I'll fall. I've obviously brought it up with my midwife, who gave me list of symptoms to watch out for that necessitate a call to her. I'm mostly wondering if I'm the only one and if anyone has any tips to help. TIA!

MIne has run about 80/40 this entire pregnancy. I was told to up my sodium, and that there was nothing else I could do. I make sure I stay hydrated and eat often. Caffiene ups it, too.

  • Yep. I fainted earlier in my pregnancy due to low blood pressure and dehydration. (I hit my head and had a concussion. That was super fun). My OBGYN told me the same thing...to sit down immediately if I start feeling faint, and call her if I experience long periods of dizziness. They monitor it pretty closely when I go in, but I haven't had any problems since that episode.
  • I'm naturally low and this pregnancy has made it even worse. My MW told me to generally up my sodium some, and that for every time I get dizzy to drink an additional big glass of water.
  • No, your not the only one out there with low blood pressure. I have naturally low blood pressure even pre pregnancy. Listening to your body is key. If you start to feel that way drink OJ,it will help. Also I find that eating frequent snacks throughout the day will help regulate blood pressure and sugars in your body rather than eating 3 square meals a day. This will help believe me. I usually eat throughout the day healthy foods and then eat smaller portions for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. hope this helps!
