  • Pregnancy is so sexy.

I had them that bad with my last pregnancy. Not so far this time, but I still have almost 2 months to go, so I'm sure my time is coming.

  • mine have not been nearly that bad and it's still been uncomfortable, so i feel for you.  when i had DS, i had barely any swelling at all until AFTER he came, and then my feet looked like that for a week.  i didn't think they'd ever look normal again.

  • Mine were like that with DD, after about a week I had my ankles back and it was amazing! Luckily, they haven't reappeared for this LO.
  • I was the same way @longcat07 ! I had a few days where I was on my feet all day when I was pregnant with DS that I had some major swelling, but not on a normal basis. But then after he was born I couldn't wear the shoes home that I wore to the hospital. Even my socks were too tight :( My DH had to go home and get me a pair of sandals!

  • I was like that with DD and my feet hurt so much! So far I've had a little swelling but nothing like I was with DD, Fx it stays that way. But like pp have mentioned, about a week pp I had my ankles back!
  • Crocs are my friend.
  • Wow... I'd consider some compression socks, too! That looks uncomfortable.

Seriously. My OB came in to check on me after delivery and told me I was about to experience the worst of the swelling. That would have been good to know before I packed my hospital bag.

I had a lot of swelling last pregnancy after 34 weeks. Try to keep your feet up if you can. Going in a pool can also be helpful. It takes some pressure off veins and your body doesn't have to work as hard to return blood up from your extremities.

The swelling has been pretty mild for me so far, but I'm only 33 weeks.

  • OMG that looks painful. Are you drinking enough fluids? I find swelling is way worse when I don't drink enough. Also, try some compression socks?

  • I'm drinking water like a champ! But I'm bad and stay on my feet way too much and don't prop them up enough. Also have elevated BP. But DH just gave me a foot massage- win!

The elevated BP can be a big culprit, I'm so sorry. I had swelling, but nothing like that- that looks horrible!  I would definitely try compression socks. I wore them and I found they helped. Hopefully you can get it down some!

  • I'm laying with my feet up right now. Been waiting for this moment all day. Can someone recommend a good reasonably priced pair of compression socks? My swelling isn't really bad yet but it's gotten worse this week and think I'd like to try the socks.
  • Thanks everyone for the good vibes and awesome suggestions! I would love bony feet right now!

  • My DH just had the balls to say "you have cartoon feet! Why doesn't that happen to normal people?" He got the evil eye, good practice for the future.
  • Wow... I'd consider some compression socks, too! That looks uncomfortable.

Had the huge feet with my first but so far so good with this one.... i used the compression socks on 1st pregnancy but just cause swollen knees :)
  • i have some pretty epic ones right now (for me, anyway...still not as bad as the OP).  i imagine they'll probably get worse after tomorrow, as i still have a lot of cleaning and meal prep work to do, and a pie to make.  it's just so bizarre to me, because i didn't really have this problem with DS.  maybe i wasn't on my feet as much then.

for compression socks, how do you know what compression level to get (light/medium/firm)?

  • Why the left cankle always bigger? Mine too
  • the right is always bigger on my feet.  no idea why.  as long as you don't have pain and redness anywhere (which could indicate a blood clot), uneven swelling evidently just happens sometimes.
