  • @GrailSeeker14‌ I'm also interested in the weight gain I've had so far. I went to my 16w appointment thinking I must've gained since my stomach looked bigger but it was exactly the same. I think I've only gained 3 pounds so far and I asked my doctor about it. She said not to worry and that most of the weight gain will be 20w+ when the baby starts to gain more. I'm trying to not think about it and just eat what I normally do. Also, your H sounds so sweet!

I'm doing pretty well this week; glad to have some time off for Thanksgiving! We had our sex reveal party this weekend. It was fun! My mom brought a little baby hat (one pink and one blue) but other than that no gifts. Everyone had fun I think!

I'm looking forward to thanksgiving and being able to have extra pieces of pie without any guilt! I'm hoping to get some work done on getting the nursery ready this weekend. It's just my craft room right now so I hope it will be easy to organize and clean out.

QOTW: I love getting gifts for people but haven't started any shopping yet. I think I may go shopping on Friday, but I'm not sure yet. If I do, it would only be to "tame" stores like Macy's, not any electronics store! I want to start a registry this weekend too! (I have lots of plans but I know it won't all happen) Our parents have started asking what we'd like for Chistmas and I think I'd really just like stuff that we need for the baby! Writing this I feel like I have so much to do, and I'm not accomplishing anything by being on the bump!

  • @baby_blessings‌ I am so angry at your BIL for you! That is just a very hurtful thing to say! And to say it right to your DH's face! Is it your DH's brother of sister's H? Not that it matters, just curious I guess. In the past two weeks since our elective ultrasound people have been saying comments about the baby's sex that have been bothering me. I wasn't going to say anything because it makes me mad but I'll share in hopes you won't feel alone on the hurtful comments department.

We told family it's a boy this weekend. SIL couldn't come so she texted us later "congrats! Is that the gender you were hoping for?" H replied, "We are happy and would be happy either way" She says, "Nice response but be honest" I was like, wtf!? Are we supposed to be unhappy it's a boy? It made me feel like she implied disappointment was necessary.

A friend who we haven't told yet texted me she hopes it's a girl. Not really a mean thing to say but I just feel like why say that? It makes it seem like a boy is less desirable. All of this just makes me wish we hadn't told anyone! I'm so happy with our boy and wish everyone could just be happy we are having a baby!

  • @grailseeker14 - YH is right, the baby is your life's work! What a sweet thing for him to say :-) Try not to worry about the weight gain (or lack thereof). My doctor said that they would monitor it monthly, and any weekly gain that I may measure at home doesn't matter. As long as that belly of yours is growing, I wouldn't worry yet!

@baby_blessings - I'm mentally punching your BIL. What a jerk.

AFM, nothing new to report. Our A/S is tomorrow, but we're Team Green and staying that way! I'm excited to get a good, long look at baby again. It's been so long! Not baby related, but we leave for our vacation (babymoon, I suppose) on Friday! I'll be gone for almost two weeks and I can't wait.

QOTW: I haven't started shopping and I have no ideas. I'm a little stressed about it, but I'll spend some time on my very long flights on Friday figuring stuff out. We also haven't started a registry yet, but people have been asking us about it. I guess we'll get moving on that when we get back from our trip.

  • @baby_blessings I hope your BIL does say something to you, if only so you can respond and tell him how awful and horribly rude and hurtful he is being! What a yutz! In other news, though, the trees came out BEAUTIFUL! Can I hire you to come to my house and paint some for me, too  ;)

AFM had a regular check up yesterday. Heard a nice strong heartbeat  and my uterus is at the exact right height, so yay for that. A/S next Friday... can't wait!

We will start our registry next Friday after our scan. Since we're Jewish and following the whole 'no baby stuff in the house prior to delivery' I won't be telling anyone about it and am certainly not expecting anything from it until baby is here. I just want ample time to get myself mentally organized :)

  • @grailseeker14 - *swoon*

    @baby_blessings - What an asshat.

AFM: Had AS last week and all looked good from what they could see.  Based on positioning, it was difficult to get a good picture of either of their hearts, and one was kinda sitting funky and we couldn't see the bottom of her spine.  But, with twins, we will have another u/s in 4 weeks, so they'll look again to confirm the hearts and spine again.  Oh, and we have additional confirmation that they're both girls :)

I had my OB appointment today and dr said I'm measuring at 28 weeks for a singleton, which is normal for a twin pregnancy at this point (19w4d).  He also said that I'm only 2 pounds over where I should be if it were a singleton pregnancy, so he's happy with the weight gain for twins.  Woo-hoo!

QOTW: I have put away some stuff for DS that we've bought for him recently.  His birthday is in September and we over-bought for that, so I don't anticipate buying a whole lot more for him.. He has SO much stuff!!  :)  No other shopping done yet, but I expect to do some online stuff soon.  We don't have a ton of people to buy for... my side of the family has said "we'll just buy for the kids" and my brother doesn't have any yet.  DH's side of the family is HUGE and we haven't exchanged gifts with them at all in a while, just get together instead.

I've started a registry, more for myself as a list of things that I know I need to get.  I'm not asking for or expecting any showers this time around, but I figure there may be folks that will want to buy stuff.  I'll just point them there if they ask.

  • GrailSeeker14 - Don't worry about the weight gain.  I had the same worry, and my doctor wasn't concerned at all today.  I guess I'm just telling myself that I gained enough in the 1st trimester to cover me for a bit.  I don't think I understood how much the steroids were effecting me.

baby_blessings - What a jerk!  Ditto to what everyone else has already posted.  I also hope he says something just so you can make a response to put him in his place.  He needs it.  Okay, well, only if you want to … I would want to :)

On a completely different note, I have been having a great week.  A complete change from last week.  My built in bookcases were installed yesterday.  They are beautiful and will help with all of the books that needed a home.  We cleaned out our office/disaster room, moved furniture out of it from baby's room, and baby's room gets painted this week.  I'm so excited to see this progress.  I also went to the doctor today, and my husband was able to join to see the baby his first time since our last appointment at the fertility clinic.  It was reassuring to me, as you may recall that I have been bummed/concerned since I haven't felt movement.  Well, baby girl is quite the mover.  The tech told me that several times today.  I'm a little concerned about what that means for me later in the pregnancy … :)  Also, my hemorrhage in the lining is now gone … all in all, a great report.

QOTW:  We did do our registry already.  I had been building one on Amazon for a while, and just made it public.  We also did a store (which is where my MIL, her friends, my mom, and her friends will want vs. my friends who seem to only have time for online) the other weekend.  I felt the need to get some of it on there since I thought my MIL may want to get a big item during the holiday sales.   I don't have all of the little things on either registry yet, but I've got time.

As for gifting, I'll probably do most of it from the comfort of my living room chair which my husband refers to as "Command Central".

  • @fro88‌ Glad everything went well at your AS!

@yarnymommy‌ Happy your appointments went well and everything looks good!

@stranzm‌ It sounds like you are having a great week! I'm happy your appointments went well!

I agree that people are very insensitive and not just about IF stuff. I realize that I am a soft spoken person and sometimes I think it's just that I wouldn't say things, but I've started thinking that people are just mean!

I mentioned above about my SIL saying that we should give our "honest" opinion on the fact that we were happy with the sex of the baby. I also had a "friend" tell me that her wedding was going to be "better" than mine; I didn't realize marriage was a competition. Anyway, I think some people just aren't very nice and have started not spending time with these people anymore, the SIL I can't avoid though!

  • @baby_blessings OMG, I can't believe your BIL, what an asshole thing to say!  But oh my goodness the trees you did are absolutely amazing!  You are so talented!

    @KellyA724 - GL at your a/s

GrailSeeker14 I was worried the other way around with the weight gain.  I have only gained during the 2nd tri.  I have been jumping recently.  So far a total of 9 lbs.  I went from 122 to 125 in 2 weeks...I'm 21 weeks today.  I swear I eat the same and run just about every day.  I figure my body knows what it is doing and I'm not going to worry about it...but I did freak out because initially I got on the scale in my boots and it said 127.  I told DH, I am redoing this without the boots!!!  I got a number that didn't make me cry.  But we all carry and gain differently and it's hard not to worry even about the little things.  And your H sounds amazing!

@stranzm that is great news from your appointment and so glad your DH got to see your little girl again!

catlover790  glad you had such a great reveal party!!  I'm sorry you are getting people who are being rediculous over your news.

ASM we had our anatomy scan yesterday so it was nice to see her again.  She was moving up a storm and kept putting her hand up to her face and making clapping motions.  We got a lot more pictures to put in her little album and DH got to show them to his family last night since he went to his BIL's graduation from the Police Acadamy.  They mostly printed off 3D images of her face for us.

We go back in 4 weeks to do an echo and we have a growth scan in early Jan in addition to our OB appointments.  I have to admit I like all the extra scans.  It seems like we are on an every 2 week schedule at the moment for seeing doctors.

QOTW: I have done a lot of clothes shopping for Hayley, I got her Christmas dress for next year, assuming it fits her then.  We got a lot more books so we can keep reading to her and not get bored repeating the same story.  I haven't done any other Christmas shopping. I have to see what is on all of my niece's and nephew's wish lists and DH keeps changing his mind about what he wants.  I have no idea yet what to get my parents, dad will probably get another Cabela's gift card, probably the same for FIL.  They seem to like that best.

I did start my registry on Amazon, I am just waiting to see what sales come up and if they look really good, I will just snag the big items or see what my mom wants to do, so I don't buy an item she does.  My IL's are having a shower for me so they wanted my registry info a few weeks ago so they could look for sales as well.

    All Welcome

  • @baby_blessings‌ I am so sorry your BIL was so awful but glad he seems to have gotten better. Your trees are absolutely gorgeous!

@GrailSeeker14‌ your DH sounds so sweet and is totally right! :)

So glad to hear that everyone is having good scans and the babies are all looking healthy. Lots to be thankful for!

We had our AS on Monday and everything looked great with baby. We have our sex results in a sealed envelope and will do our mini reveal on Sunday (so excited!!) They did refer us to a specialist to have an echo done on baby's heart so we do that in December. They didn't see anything that looks wrong with his/her heart but said we should go since baby was conceived through IVF?

QOTW: I am pretty much done shopping for DD but have not even started on the rest of the family. We leave for Hawaii tomorrow so we are going to take my parents to a luau for their Christmas gift. I figured it would be a nice evening together and they don't really need any "stuff."

    Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!
  • @keifekm‌ I hope your reveal is fun! it sounds so exciting! I've heard on here that the echo is recommended more for those conceived through IvF too. I'm glad your AS went well!

  • I had my 20 week anatomy scan last week. Everything looked good, except that the doc couldn't get a good look at her heart bc of the position she was in. He said looking at the pics the tech took was enough and that it looked fine, but it still worried me a little that he didn't tell us to come back in to take another look.

Also, she's only in the 26th percentile for weight, which is still normal, but not sure why she's so small. Seems that unlike everyone else, I've had no trouble gaining weight - I'm already up 13 pounds! Hope some of that goes to the baby and she grows a little bigger.

QOTW: I hate Christmas shopping (and actually, shopping in general), so I'll be doing everything I can online. Haven't started a registry yet, but getting pressure from MIL about it bc she wants to have a shower, so we'll probably do it in the next few weeks.
  • Hi ladies!  I'm 18w2d today.  I had a scary fall down the stairs last Friday (landed on my butt/back, and had no cramping or bleeding, but still scary).  This week, I got a package in the mail - DH ordered socks with rubber grips on them for me, to keep me from slipping on the hard wood again. :/
Because of the fall, my OB did a quick u/s at my appointment this week, and both  babies were moving with strong heartbeats (hooray!)
I have my A/S next week, and DH will be coming along, getting his first good look since they were just two little sacs.  I'm looking forward to finding out the sex of each baby.  (There was a potential penis spotting at the OB this week, but the other baby was absolutely hiding all of the goods.  So, I'm pretty sure we're having at least one boy... but I don't want to get excited about anything, until I know both.  It feels incomplete only having a guess at one).

QOTW:  I'm doing miserably on all of these fronts.  I haven't really even started thinking about Christmas shopping - to be honest, I'm not really into it any more.  Fortunately, most of my family feels the same, so we'll do a "basket exchange" with my many siblings & 20ish year old nephews (everyone makes a basket, and then do a white elephant type exchange), and DH and I will see if his many siblings want to do the "ornament exchange" that we did last year.  (again, make, or buy a unique Christmas ornament, and then exchange white elephant style).  I don't know what to buy DH, 'cause, frankly, we don't need anything, and I hate bringing more *stuff* into the house.... especially, considering that we'll soon be bringing in babies & baby gear.

I haven't started a registry, because it feels early to me - and no one's asked, so I think we're in the clear.  I'm not even really certain there will be a shower, because even though the twins will be our first children, I'm not really sure if people throw full blown baby showers for 38 year old women - Am I even making sense?  I'd never really thought about it before - and its not like I can ask - so I guess it will be a surprise either way. :)

  • Hi Ladies! I'm going to post and run here, as I'm so behind on all my check-ins (and the rest of my life). Sorry! I'll be better next week!

We've had relatives in the house for several days, so it's just been crazy! All is good here--baby is pretty much dancing nonstop, which is amazing but very weird. We also shared the "girl" news with my family, which was fun. Nothing major going to happen for quite a while....

QOTW: Haven't bought a single thing for Xmas, but we're doing pretty well for the baby. Good deals online and through used sites. I hate shopping, but it's fun for the baby. :)
