did you start gaining weight and having wrinkles immediately after turning 35? well i did and i'm pissed. to those who have managed to avoid both of those things, how often do you exercise and what wrinkle cream do you use? thanks!
I had my first and only child at 35, so that factors into it. I found losing the last 10 pounds of pregnancy weight was difficult. I have to watch what I eat more than I ever have to maintain weight, especially carbs. And I've noticed fine lines around my eyes and random gray hairs, but I'll be 38 in a couple of months so I guess it's normal. I use Boots No.7 Lift & Luminate night cream. I notice I get called " ma'am" more so now by people, which makes me feel old. I blamed it on having a child in tow, but maybe it's the wrinkles and mom paunch?
ETA I exercise daily, jogging/walking combo for 4 miles on the treadmill, plus squats, lunges, crunches and girl style push ups. This makes me sound in better shape than I actually am.
I'm 36 and have just admitted to myself that I need to start using wrinkle cream. I use Regenerist by Oil of Olay. I am in the process of losing the weight I gained from having two kids in two years, so I'm hoping that being over 35 does not impede my progress too much. The chocolate I love to eat probably doesn't help either.
I had a big weight gain around age 30, and another around 40. I started running and watching calories to keep it in check, but it's pretty safe to say I'll never see my pre-30's size again. As you get older, the amount of time you have to devote to exercise to stay the same size just increases, and I'm just not willing to put in the time, to be honest.
I don't have a ton of wrinkles (some, just not a ton), but then again I still have acne, so my skin is just not that dry. I use Estee Lauder Dayware moisturizer, mainly because it contains sunblock, it doesn't make me break out, and I like the way it smells. I do think avoiding sun exposure is one of the most effective things you can do to protect your skin from wrinkles.
Hi TPIS! I'm 37 and while I'm lucky to have no wrinkles I have noticed that I've gotten fatter the closer I get to 40. I literally have to starve myself by eating 1100 calories a day and workout like a maniac to lose weight. Fuck you mid 30's!
Welcome to the club. Things started going downhill for me at 30. Acne, dry hair and some extra ass. At 37, I chase my toddler around for exercise plus some cardio, Pilates and Just Dance on the wii. I've finally learned portion control and not eating everything MH does. I am happy with my Origins Starting Over moisturizer and Ginzing eye creme and coconut oil on the really dry patches (I worked in cosmetics and tried a lot of stuff to get the skin of my 20s back). I wear less makeup so it can't creep into fine lines and give me 5 o'clock haggard face.
My hair is just forever fucked because we bought a home with hard water. So I don't have it all figured out just yet.
We have double water filtration and a water softener. We've tried shower head filters and took them off because the water pressure was less than stellar.
I exercise 4-5x a week; I am an awful person if I don't. So it's less 'I'm awesome for working this into my day' and more 'I'm a pain in the ass if I don't get my energy out'. However, since 35, I gain weight even with exercise. Part of me is OK with a few extra pounds. But when things get out of control, I use MyFitnessPal, and track all my food and exercise. The accountability keeps me from mindlessly eating.
It can get tedious, so I do it to lose a few pounds, give myself a break, and get back on when needed. If don't have respites from logging all the information, I find I get pissy about the whole process. So it's good (for me) to do it in 1-2 month blocks.
I use Olay Regenerist (or whatever they have at Costco) and something with SPF during the day.
You made me feel less alone- thanks!
If being a math nerd is wrong, I don't wanna be right!
