Mammograms

So...

I'm due for my annual mammogram, but since I'm pregnant and will be breast feeding, I have to wait!  So I could potentially go 2 - 2 1/2 years without one.  Now, I'm not a survivor but I did have a scare about 7 years ago when lumps were found at the age of 36 by my RE.  I had to have a sonogram after my mammogram, which to me was not a good thing and panicked the entire time I had to wait for my results!  They discovered them to be benign cysts and nothing to worry about, thank goodness.  But my grandmother had breast cancer and after my scare, I'm diligent about my breast health.  Going so long without one scares me a little bit. 

Maybe I'm overly worried because I'm hormonal but I just needed to share.  Thanks for reading!! :)

1/12 BPP/Growth U/S #9 HB 129, weighs 5lb 12oz already w/ 4 weeks to go!!

    Your/your family history is certainly anxiety inducing.  Hey at least breast feeding reduces the risk in the long run, huh?

    Hmm...very interesting article!  Thanks for sharing!  It makes me feel a little better. :)

    Yes, they say breast feeding lowers the risk and I've breast fed both of my children, so maybe a 3rd go 'round will help :)

    I was going to say that breast feeding reduces your risk, but also, I doubt you would get an accurate reading while you are nursing anyway.  With all of the fluid in the milk ducts and such.  It also would probably be extremely painful.  I get the worrying though!  I definitely can't imagine them squeezing me in one of those right now.  I'd probably pass out from the pain.  Yikes!

    @topaz777 - Oddly enough, for me, it was less painful the larger my breast were.  When I had the first one, I was a B and then I was a C for all the remaining tests. I can't imagine getting it done while pregnant tho, or nursing!  I told the doctor that I couldn't imagine getting one and losing my 'liquid gold' on the machine!! LOL
