Hello mamma's . My Godbaby turns one in December. I was just wondering what a good present would be. Possibly one that ia good at stimulating the brain? TIA
My niece just turned 1 a month ago and I got her a picnic basket mafe from leap frog. It teaches colors, numbers and it plays songs. I also got her puzzles that told her what she was putting in each spot and a little bit about the animal. She loves both! Good luck shopping!

That sounds really nice! And right along what I was looking for. Thank you.
I got my niece a tea set from Target. It's oversized for easy handling, makes bubbles noises when you tip it, sings songs, and I believe teaches something but I can't remember what (numbers, colors, shapes..not sure.)
- Ball pounder (I don't know what to call this, it's a wooden structure that has balls that sit in holes and comes with a mallet to hit them through - great for hand/eye coordination and cause and effect)
- Ball popper (this one is a push along - NOT A WALKER) that has a rolling ball at the end
- Books (she's obsessed with Elmo)
- Baby doll with a bottle
- Shape sorter (great for teaching shapes and colors and fun to play with as blocks)
- Ball maze
1 year olds are learning a lot about cause and effect so any toy that teaches them "You do this and THIS happens" is great. They also like to start doing pretend-play around this age so little figurines (we have a farm set) or a baby doll are great for building their imagination.

I always like to give the Melissa and Doug large knob puzzles and/or books. I feel like so many people buy toys for bday parties. It's nice to do something a little different.
I second what @krysmill said about the picnic basket! It is so cute, well made, and loved by my daughter (and it was 20 bucks at Toys R Us).
I love to give experience gifts. I usually get a zoo membership for my nieces/nephews but I know that's pricey. You can always get a gift card for a one day admission for the family. Or to a children's museum!
My second favorite gift to get is the Pottery Barn anywhere chair. I can't link because I'm mobile but Google it. It's adorable:)
I got my nephew a few stuffed animals from Ikea (Disclosure, this month a portion of the sales of soft toys sold there go to the non profit where I work....but they are really cute and I got 2 for my LO also ) a book and some clothes. The clothes I guess are more a present for his parents, but whatever they are adorbs.

My dd had this and loved it! It has multiple settings, a tea pot, 2 little cups and a little tray of cakes of different shapes. Its very educational and cute.
