What does LO eat?

Since it is so slow, I'll post more. Not only have I given dd bad sleep habits but bad eating habits as well. She's super picky. What she likes today, she hates tomorrow. She finally moved on from purees (she would gag and vomit with anything whole). She'll eat some fruit. If she's in the mood, she'll eat chicken, potato or pasta. Forget any veggie unless it is a fruit & veggie packet. She loves all bread. What does your LO like to eat?

Re: What does LO eat?

  • We try to have DD eat the same things we do, but logistically it doesn't always work. We end up doing chicken (shredded), vegetables (well steamed), avocado, banana, hummus and bread, peaches, peanut butter.

Writing this out I realize I need to switch it up a little bit.

  • We are about where you are. We still do purees though because he doesn't seem to get full at dinner from the small amount he eats. Breakfast is super easy for us with pancakes, oatmeal, french toast, eggs, biscuits, toast, grits, and cimmamon rolls. But lunch and dinner are harder. Potatoes, breads, pasta, chicken, beans, I think that's about it. Grapes, strawberries, bananas and watermelon are so far the only fruit he will eat.
  • I'll give you an example of today's meals:
Breakfast: blueberry pancakes (I make on weekends and freeze) & grapes
Lunch: Turkey & ham cut up, cooked carrots & grapes
Dinner:  We're having tacos, so before we put the sodium loaded taco seasoning in, I put ground beef to the side. I'll make a mini beef, cheese and tomato quesadilla for him.

We try to mix it up, but he could live off of cheese and bread. He is picky as hell about veggies too. I try to get the steam fresh mixed veggies (frozen section) so that he has options on his plate.

Every day is so different and he likes/hates different things! Constant learning curve.
  • #5 is not a fan of puree. She boycotted them around 10 months. *shrugs* So she eats what we eat. If she doesn't want it, then she can eat off her dish what she does like as long as that is what we are eating. That may sound cold, but I made our babyfood for the most part, which was always just what we had for dinner.

Last night she liked the sausage but not the perogies. So I tried to separate the mashed potato out of them since I know she liked that, but she didn't go for it. She did eat the green beans though. I figured that was good enough. This morning she liked the egg and cheese in the breakfast burrito but not the wrap. But she wanted it all wrapped up in a wrap. That was interesting. She had a banana too. She loves to walk around with a whole peeled banana and munch on it.

  • We're struggling with this. What he likes one day he will turn his nose up the next. We're still doing a lot of purees to get food in him, since tablefood is always hit-or-miss.

We've discovered that he likes pork roast, saltines, and bread. We thought he liked fruit, but recently he's been throwing it on the floor immediately. Same with chicken. #lostforideas

  • LO hasn't said no to anything... Yet. I'm a boring cook, so it's usually a meat and 1-2 vegetables. Then leftovers for her lunch the next day.

This week she has had turkey with sweet potatoes, chicken in a bbq sauce with broccoli/cauliflower/carrots, shredded beef with peas/carrots. She shared my steak fajitas on Sunday with refried beans and Spanish rice.

Breakfast is fresh fruit and Cheerios. Sometimes pancakes or scrambled eggs.

If I'm lazy and/or busy, I do a cheat with the Gerber prepackaged ravioli or spaghetti-Os.

  • I love these posts because I always get new ideas for meals and snacks! Here are a few of Brody's current favs:

    Breakfast:
omelette muffins (scrambled eggs, cheese and veggies baked in a muffin tin)
    banana pancakes
blueberry banana muffins (rolled oats, yogurt, fruit etc)
    toast with pb and bananas
    oatmeal with fruit
banana "sushi" (banana rolled in pb then rolled in cereal like regular rice crispies and then cut into bite sized pieces)
    Fruit salad and yogurt

    Lunch:
English muffin pizza (half whole wheat one with sauce and mozz cheese)
Wheat pasta and veggie sauce (tomato sauce with puréed carrots, spinach, broccoli etc)
Turkey pinwheels (low sodium turkey slice rolled around cheese then cut into circles. Very rare though since I'm not a fan of deli meats)
Homemade Mac n cheese (puréed squash in the cheese)
Egg salad sandwich ( half sandwich barely any mayo just enough to keep the egg salad together maybe less than 1/4 teaspoon)
    Grilled cheese
    Leftovers from dinner

    Dinner:
    Chili (ground turkey, beans, tomatoes)
Meatloaf (ground beef sometimes usually turkey)
    Baked sweet potatoes
    Broccoli
    Zucchini
    Carrots and peas together
    Squash
Ravioli (when I have time I make batches of wheat pasta then defrost as needed)
    Chicken
    Fish tacos (tilapia or haddock)

    Snacks:
    Yogurt
Hard boiled egg (usually half with half a string cheese)
    PB and crackers
    Baked snap peas
Coconut bars (rolled oats, coconut, raisins cut up)
    Grapes
    Clementines
Blueberries (can cause diaper rashes though)
    Cucumbers and hummus
Pears and cheese (like a cheddar)
  • @wedding06‌ it's basically beating the eggs like you would with scrambled eggs then adding the other ingredients. I typically don't use muffin liners so I pour it into the tin after lightly greasing the bottom and sides. Then you pop then in the oven at 350 and bake for about 10 mins. I found 10 mins still keeps them fluffy but doesn't dry them out completely. Depending on what you add it may take a little less time or a little more time. I try to do a larger batch every few Sundays and freeze them to use later. They warm up quick in the oven or microwave.

I've seen people add things like sausage but I didn't like how the turkey sausage tasted in it. I like that's it's small enough for tiny hands but pretty filling too. I sometimes take them to work and eat them before class!
