What are you making for Thanksgiving? (Or if you aren't making anything this year, what's your favorite or go-to holiday dish?) Want to share the recipe?
I usually do baked corn! 1 can creamed corn, 1 can whole corn, 1 package of cornbread mix, & 8 oz of cream cheese at room temp. Mix all ingredients together & bake in the oven until toothpick is clean (typically 350* for 30 min)
We do a twist on the traditional green bean casserole. Since no one here is really fond of green beans we substitute with broccoli and substitute the mushroom soup with Campbells broccoli cheese soup. Everyone here loves it and it's one of my favorites.
I'm so glad someone posted this...especially after DH asked me what I'm bringing to his parent's thanksgiving dinner. I replied, "Uhm, babies?" Apparently having newborn twins doesn't get me out of contributing.
@lovingaddi - That looks good and easy. I might have to do that. Especially since I am over trying to impress his family with my culinary skills. The first year I slaved over a made-from-scratch pumpkin pie with a brown sugar/pecan topping (with fresh pumpkin mind you) DH was the only one who ate it. Everyone else ate boxed brownies and store-bought desserts.

Pumpkin cake is always a favorite! Just get a spice cake mix and a can of pumpkin, mix it together and cook according to the box and add cream cheese icing to the top and you're done (:

My ILs are the same way. It took me about 10 years to find two dishes that anyone else in his family will eat. I alternate between the two.
We weren't planning to contribute or attend since we figured we'd either have a newborn or be in the hospital (due date was last Sunday). Since neither of those are the case as of yet I have decided to do desserts this year. My mom usually hands those over to my grandmother and SIL. SIL has to work a 12 hr L&D shift today and grandmother was just released from a physical therapy rehab facility. So my mom was going to go buy pies... Uh no thanks haha. So I have a pumpkin pie done, a pecan pie and chocolate chip pecan pie baking and doing a chocolate fudge pie next. I usually do a dessert and a couple of sides so this is a change.
@wallygirl - I agree, no store-bought pies for Thanksgiving! (Though my mom does buy pies, but they are made by a group of old ladies that make them from scratch, so they are still "homemade", just by someone else.)

@lovingaddi That sounds delish! I want that for dinner now.
@mgg242 - Wow, you are brave!
