Late Term and Child Loss

PgAL check in 11/21

Hi ladies.  I hope you and baby have been well this week!  Please feel free to post any questions you may have for each other.

How far along are you?

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones?

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions?

QOTW: What are your plans for Thanksgiving?  Any suggestions for how to cope during this holiday?

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week?

Re: PgAL check in 11/21

  • How far along are you? 25 weeks

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? So many! Regular appointments every week, and then at 27 weeks we have another growth scan. Starting at 28 weeks, I go twice a week for fetal well being tests.

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions? I honestly cannot wait for Thanksgiving food - I'm craving turkey!

QOTW: What are your plans for Thanksgiving?  Any suggestions for how to cope during this holiday? We are going to my parent's house this year.  I really hope that we are able to include the boys in what we are thankful for when we say grace.  As for coping.... I wish I had suggestions.  The only thing I can think of is to remember to be grateful for the time we had with our angels, albeit short.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? IS MY BABY'S HEAD GROWING?!  I am terrified that something is wrong and am anxious for the next growth scan.  It makes me sad to think that so many of us PgAL are having issues in this pregnancy - I think we all deserve a free pass this time around.

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones?       My A/S is on Dec 4th! So wanting it already. What to make sure baby boy is growing.

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions?     Not really a symptom but I have been feeling LO move around for over a week now.  :)

QOTW: What are your plans for Thanksgiving?  Any suggestions for how to cope during this holiday?           Going to my parents on Thanksgiving and then to my inlaws the following Saturday. Just trying to think about only good things with my daughter.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week?      We have finally named baby boy. He is named Byron Neal McEwen V, after his dad who is the IV. We will call LO Mac though so not to cause any confusion between the two since my hubby goes by Byron.  :)

  • @ikrystal‌ I pray that you keep getting good news of a growing head at each if your upcoming appointments! I hear ya on the free pass thing!

@BrittianyM‌ I love that name! Prayers for a great appt. on the 4th!

How far along are you? 7 weeks today @-)

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? First ultrasound on Monday the 24th! Praying for a strong heartbeat!!

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions? Starting to get a little heart burn in the evenings. The whole 25 weeks I was pregnant with the twins I didn't really have any symptoms, so I think this one already feels a lot different!

QOTW: What are your plans for Thanksgiving? Any suggestions for how to cope during this holiday? My parents and DH's parents are actually doing dinner together so we are planning to tell them then! We'll do thanksgiving with my parents and sisters on Friday so we'll share with them on Friday! I'm kind of afraid how they'll all react! I don't know why!

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? Just so anxious to see a living baby on Monday! After trying so long again it still feels so unreal! Also anxious to see if there's 1,2 or 3 in there!
  • @ikrystal      Sending prayers for your LO

schulme2        Thanks! Praying that your appointment on the 24th goes great and see a very strong heartbeat!

  • @schulme2  We're telling my family on Thanksgiving as well (I'll be 12.5 weeks at that point). I'm having major anxiety and fear about it as well. I don't know if I'm just scared of how people will react, or what. I think in part at least I am afraid that people will just be happy and excited and not understand why we're not 100% over the moon. Like maybe people will expect this to mean we've moved on and are no longer grieving our son.

  • BrittianyM That is so great that you have been feeling him move!  I love his nick name, I think it is adorable!

schulme2 FX for Monday!  Please keep us posted.  I love that you are announcing on Thanksgiving - this is really something to be grateful for!

GymSpaz26 I have the same reservations about people knowing.  We finally told everyone when I was 19 weeks along, and some people really supported us and tried to understand how we were feeling, and others didnt.  I hope that you get more support than not once you announce.
  • How far along are you? 19 weeks

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? Anatomy scan next Monday afternoon! Finally.

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions? My back has started to hurt pretty badly in the past couple of days. I really need to start exercising. I know that helps. I just have no motivation to actually do it ever. Also my fingernails have started randomly breaking. Yesterday it happened opening or closing a shoebox. I only remember this happening with Nathaniel and not DD so it is slightly freaking me out.

QOTW: What are your plans for Thanksgiving?  Any suggestions for how to cope during this holiday? Our church always has Thanksgiving dinner the Sunday before Thanksgiving. We went to that last night. It was fun and I ate lots of food. DH's family is having Thanksgiving on Saturday. Usually it's a lot of people. Most aren't coming this year for one reason or other, but I think that will be good. Less people is probably better this year.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? I'm excited to see baby again on Monday. I have not seen him/her since my very first appointment at about 6 weeks.

  • Sorry for the late check in!
How far along are you? 21 weeks, 2 days

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? Normal doppler check next week, then a growth scan two weeks after that.

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions? Still like eating lots of food. Except chicken or lunch meat, gross!

QOTW: What are your plans for Thanksgiving?  Any suggestions for how to cope during this holiday? Thankfully we are just having dinner with my sister and BIL. Both my husband and I are from out of town and they're our only in town family, and we decided we didn't want to travel out of town on holidays. It's going to be a difficult day, but since we'll be with people who are understanding of our loss we'll be able to cry when we want to and talk about Lincoln when we want to. I feel very lucky about that.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? I'm trying really hard not to think of the bad things baby's club feet could imply, or worry about his growth. I'm determined to focus on decorating the nursery (it's being painted next week) and not worrying that baby boy will be sick and not get to use it. This little guy deserves love and excitement, not just worry.
  • @ikrystal I already can't wait for your next scan, I hope baby girl got the memo and is growing that head of hers!
I'm with you, I'm so heartbroken at how many of us are having to go through issues. I know troubles with a previous child doesn't mean we have lower odds of difficulty for the next baby, BUT IT SHOULD!

@BrittianyM Cute name! And I'm glad you've been feeling movement, that part is my favorite :)

@schulme2 Congratulations on the great ultrasound!! So happy for you!

@dadalou Good luck at your scan on Monday! Can't wait to hear how it goes!
Also, I feel ya about the exercise. I've been having back and leg pains, which I know would feel better if I exercised. Unfortunately, my couch is really comfy sooo....

  • dadalou FX for a great anatomy scan!  My nails are breaking, too.  Not fun!  But they did not break with the twins.

schulme2 That is wonderful news!  Thank you for the update and I hope there are many more great updates to come.

Mel&John2013 I'm glad that you'll be spending Thanksgiving with people that you can talk about Lincoln with.  I think that is key to having a better time during the holidays.  I'm also so happy to hear you are getting the nursery ready and getting excited for the baby's arrival - you are so right - no matter what, these babies deserve excitement for their arrival.  SO many hugs to you!
