What is safe & good to take? Haven't pooped in a bout a week. Normally dairy does the trick for me but its not. Having full out stomach cramps & gas from not being able to go. I just want to poooop!
Sending DH to the store now. Found a after hours nurse just waiting on them to call back. Just ready to take a nice healthy poop.
Just a warning…after a week of serious constipation I drank a large glass of prune juice. About an hour later it kicked in. The sounds that came out of my butt while I pooped were unholy. Now I have a glass every couple of days. But that first poop was ridiculous. I actually worked up a sweat.
Broccoli has helped me out greatly. Also, apple juice or cider has helped me as well. I wasn't ready to resort to medicine yet as I haven't seen my dr yet. Lots of green veggies!
Yikes...you have a night ahead of you with 3 glasses.

Also my after call nurse called me back & said absolutely no miralax. (After she told me to drink some) so beware try everything before medicine! Hopefully this prune juice kicks in very soon!
My doctor told me that Metamucil was safe. It's basically just extra fiber. I got the capsules and they seemed to help.

3 glasses of prune juice half glass of miralax hot bath still have not pooped. now I have acid reflux so bad from all this damn juice. (
You might look into the safety of hot baths. My OB advised against hot baths, saunas, etc saying that it can overheat the baby.

Everything within moderation. Should you sit in a hot tub till you feel dizzy? No. Does your ob reccomend that all pregnant women in Tucson in the summer move to gentler climates? No. You're not as delicate a flower as you think.

Yup. I agree with the moderation thing. Not giving up my hot showers. Also, FWIW, I would never tell anyone what they should/shouldn't do. Only if she hadn't learned anything about hot baths, to look into it and decide where she personally feels comfortable drawing the line.
Sorry for the thread hijack!

My doc says try Metamucil first, then move on to colace if needed. I can't keep anything more than cream of wheat and bread down these days, so there is no chance I can do prune juice or veggies.
Someone suggested Chia seeds and so I decided to try it and it actually seems to be working. It's kind of gross but it's doing the job. Just put 2 tbsp. of chia seeds in 8 oz. of water and stir for 5 minutes. I'd use room temp. water so you can drink it quickly.
I had to call my doctors office yesterday because I've been so constipated from taking Zofran. I really don't even have the urge to go, but I'm super bloated. Today is day 5 and still nothing. Yesterday, I drank some Miralax in the morning, cranberry juice and Milk of Mag last night, more Miralax this morning. I thought for sure the Milk of Mag would get things going, but nope. My doctor has a list of safe meds and both Miralax and Milk of Mag are on there. I'm supposed to call the nurse back this morning if I still haven't gone.

Packet I got from my doctor's office says:
Drink enough water (at least 8 glasses a day). Sometimes a warm glass when you first wake up can help.
Eat more fruits and veggies high in fiber
Do not take a laxative
OK Meds: Colace, metamucil, Milk of Magnesia (only occasionally), miralax
