July 2015 Moms

Spilling the beans

My DH and I are so excited to be having our first child...we have been trying for four months (ever since we got married in July) and we were a little worried it would take a while since I'm 34 and he's 35. But we made it happen! :) And I just cannot wait to tell everyone our big news! But my EDD isn't until July 25th. If all goes well at our first OBGYN appt on Dec 18th we are hoping to tell our family we are preganant on xmas (about week 10). I will wait until about the start of my 2nd trimester to tell my boss however. I'm in a middle management position and it will be very difficult for my work to have me out on maternity leave.

What about the rest of you? When will you tell your big news?

Erin

Re: Spilling the beans

  • Welcome and congratulations! I told everyone at 4w2d, but that was because of my loss history and we could use all the prayers we can get! Usually I try to wait until 10-12 weeks!

  • @Erinka We have the exact same timeline. My EDD is also 7/25 and our first OBGYN appt is 12/18. I've told 3 people already because I'm so excited and I couldn't keep it in. :) We are planning to tell our family and close friends for Christmas!

I'm in sales, and have a national sales meeting in Orlando in mid February for a week. This typically means lots of drinking. I'm planning to tell my manager and colleagues prior to the meeting, because I know everyone will wonder why I'm not drinking.

I will probably be telling mother inlaw within a week or 2 because I will need her help with watching DS while I'm at appts and such. We will hopefully be telling our siblings on Christmas Eve and Christmas. Then nobody else until safely in second trimester.

Also my name is Erin too

I'm telling my parents and siblings over Thanksgiving. My in-laws will find out in a few weeks. We wanted to be able to tell them in person and we don't live in the same city. As for work, I'm waiting til the 2nd trimester.

  • We're waiting until Christmas, we'll be a week away from the 2nd trimester! (:

  • Christmas morning. We want to tell my family right before we take our annual Christmas picture. I think everyone will be VERY surprised so we want to catch their reaction.
  • @Erinka and @CANTW82BMOM‌ I'm also due the 25th (with our third)! My first appt is Dec. 11th. We're telling family on Thanksgiving and friends at some point later. I'm too excited to keep it in; )
  • I am due a few days after at July 28th, see the midwife for the first appointment Dec 17th and planning on relatives at Christmas which will be 9 weeks
  • I'm 5w2d. We told DH's mom, grandparents, and aunt yesterday. We are going to Disney World next week with DH's dad. So we figured we had to tell his mom. And if we told his mom we had to tell the grandparents and then had to tell the aunt. It was kind of a domino thing. I plan to tell my family when they do their Christmas Dec 13th if I can keep it in that long. My family lives several states away so it'll have to be by phone. I told my boss and our accounting person. I work very closely with them and figured they would notice different behavior. No one else until second trimester.
  • We told my parents and brother the day after BFP (they know we have been seeing an RE for the last 4 months). I told my two best friends and we will tell DH's family on Thanksgiving, I will only be 5w3d but they are a great support system if anything is to happen.

I told my charge nurse because I work in an Emergency Room so she will help dodge me or make sure I know possible isolations if needed but I won't let my manager and everyone else know until after the 1st trimester at the end of January.

  • My mom and a few others know that we are expecting but my bf side his mom and her bf and his dad are the only ones who know so I'm thinking he'll tell them aftet our first appointment on December 8th. Maybe wait till Christmas to tell them I think it would be fun.

Another July 25ther here too. I told my mom's group from DD recently as well as a close friend. My parents will know tomorrow, and I'm guessing we'll tell MIL sometime soon. With DD, we waited until family came in town, but with MIL it won't be until January and I don't think it's fair to keep it from her for that long. If something were to happen I'd want support.

ETA: DH and I are planning to tell our bosses after our appointment on 12/16.

  • DH really wants to tell our family at Thanksgiving, so I think we're going to do that (I'll be 9 weeks + 1 day). I was nervous about it because we don't have our 1st appointment until a week later. I'm just going to tell him that if we have to un-tell, he's going to be the one doing the un-telling. It is just our immediate families who will be there on Thanksgiving, but I am a very private person.

Then for extended family & close friends, we'll tell via Christmas card. And we'll do a general facebook announcement on New Year's Eve. I'm going to tell my boss either after our first appointment or if I start giving in to my morning sickness and throwing up at work.

That's pretty wild how our dates line up @CANTW82BMOM. :) And in terms of drinking I just picked up some bottles of non-alcoholic wine for Thanksgiving so no one suspects! Not sure that would work for you at a sales meeting however. Congrats!

@SepiaMoon Sounds like a good plan. It's so great to be able to tell loved ones in person. I will not be able to tell my mom in person and that makes me a little sad. Congrats!
  • I'm due the 26th or 27th based on my calculations. I'm waiting until we have an U/S (probably around 8-9 weeks) to tell family.

We probably won't tell friends/extended family until second tri.

I'm the wino of the family so Thanksgiving is going to be challenging...

My EDD is around July 20th, so very close to yours! We are doing the same and waiting til around Christmas to tell family! I would like to at least go for an early ultrasound and the blood work and everything first before we tell them! This is our first pregnancy too! Married in July and after trying for 4 months, just got pregnant! We are so excited and will probably tell some close friends soon! It's so hard to hide it from your BFF!!
  • We already told most of our family and a few close friends.  We'll tell everyone else around the end of December.

  • My EDD is July 25th. My viability scan is Dec. 15th. Although we suffered a loss in April we are soo excited and told our moms and best friends. DH has told his close guy group already hahaha he couldn't keep it in. We will tell everyone later maybe new years.
  • Telling immediate family this weekend! We are 9 weeks. I have been feeling so sick and since we live close to family it's hard to keep it a secret. We are going to mail out some cards to the great grandparents and extended family before Christmas.
  • Hello, my EDD is also July 25th, and I told all the girls I work with (mainly because we went through fertility treatments and I was having to come in late... I'm a prek teacher) I also told my parents (especially for support since I have had a MC in the past) and few close friends but we plan on telling DH 's family and my family on December 20th at our holiday party! I can't wait to hear the reactions!! LOL

I'm pretty sure excited Grandma (my mom) may have spilled the beans to her sisters. So I'm assuming the majority of my extended family knows, so I'm sure it will come up on Thursday, so we plan on calling and telling my step-son tonight since we wanted him to know before it started going public. And then we will probably just slowly open up about it to everyone else after that. I will be 9 weeks Friday.

  • I'm due July 25th (my 6th anniversary) as well and I'm 34 too! We've been TTC for a little over 3 years now and we decided to give IVF a try. Our first round was a loss but I'm so happy to say that our FET cycle worked and everything is going well! I'm going to tell my parents and in laws on Christmas! We told everyone early with my first pregnancy and it was sad to tell them of our loss, so we decided to keep the good news a secret until we are closer to the 2nd trimester...Christmas is the perfect time close enough to 12 weeks! I want to tell them so badly! It's so hard to keep it a secret! Congrats to you and your husband!
  • We're due July 2 - 9w2d today - my parents have known for a couple of weeks (I was too sick to hide it long) and we told my in laws last weekend. After our second ultrasound this week showing baby is right on track, we told family at Thanksgiving and started sharing the news with a wider circle over the last day or two. We'll send a Christmas card announcement to all in a few weeks. Seeing our little bean kicking her/his teeny legs on Tuesday's ultrasound gave me the confidence to feel comfortable spreading our happy news!

I am currently 7 weeks. Have an US on Wednesday. If all goes well we are telling our parents and siblings on Thursday in the form of a card..handing the card in person. We plan on telling his grandparents and extended family around the 15th...they live 5 hours away and we will be visiting, and my grandparents and extended family on Christmas. Both also in the form of a card in person. From there I'm sure the news will spread....
