Confusion with due dates!!

Hi ladies!!! So according to every calculator I've tried, I'm due July 12th making me 7 weeks pregnant - but the first day of my last period was Oct 5th, making me 8 weeks and 1 day pregnant with a duedate of July 5th. I have my ultrasound on Thursday but all my symptoms line up perfect with week 8! Is anyone else as confused as I am about how it works?!?!

    I'm confused too. Based on your LMP, the July 12th date sounds about right. How did you calculate the July 5th due date?

    They will tell you at your appointment. They measure the baby in the ultrasound. With us it was pretty easy we has a hsg done & got pregnant the next day lol

    Not everyone gets a dating ultrasound. I am not doing one

    OP said she had an ultrasound on Thursday so it was safe to assume it is a dating ultrasound and she will be given an edd based on that.

    They should still give her an idea of the EDD based on her last period. My last period was Oct 6 and my EDD is July 13. You are 7 wks, 1 day.
    First came love, then came marriage - Oct 31, 09
    Then came a miscarriage March '11
    Then came a baby in the baby carriage May 16, 12

    Waiting on our second little peanut!

    I'm also curious how you got the July 5 date. If you ovulate on the late side (more than 14 days after your period started) that can definitely affect the calculators. I'd wait and see what you find out from the ultrasound.

    When I went to the doctor to confirm my pregnancy, she told me I was 5 weeks based off my last period and that was nov 3rd. 3 weeks ago...5+3=8. The 5th was a Sunday so that was the first week...I looked on a calendar and counted weeks from oct 5th which puts me at 8 weeks - 40 weeks from Oct 5th is July 5th. Unless my doctor was wrong in telling me I was 5 weeks when really I was only 4?!

    I think it's safe to assume she made an error in telling you you were 5 weeks when you were really only 4.  Sometimes mistakes happen.  If your last period was Oct 5 then you are in fact 7 weeks, not 8.

    Yeah, Nov 3 is definitely only 4 weeks from Oct 5. I think she just made a mistake.

    That's a relief hearing ovulatuon can muck up due date. My ovulation must have been out of whack, last period was September 27, had first ultrasound on Friday 14th November and was dated at 5 weeks 4 days when I thought I'd be closer to 7 weeks. Oh well. Currently at 7 weeks 1 day, due July 13th.

    You must have ovulated later.  Based on the start date of my LMP on October 10 my due date would be July 17.  I ovulated on November 2 though, so my due date is actually July 26.  Calculating pregnancy from the start of your last period is only a guess.

    @biancamoyes , I ovulated on CD 27 so I can't go off of the standard calculator. Based off of my LMP which was Oct. 4th, I would be due July 11th, however; since I know I ovulated on CD 27 instead of around 14, My EDD should be July 20th. I go in next week for my first US to confirm my thoughts

    I had my dating us today. I was told my was only changed one day from 7/2 to 7/3 but on the us one area says GA = 7wks 1 day and another area says GA = 8wks 2 days. Not sure what that means and why there are two listed

    Yea it sounds like the calculations are wrong somehow. My lmp was sept 29th and my due date is July 6th. I'm 8 weeks today.

    Ovulation and implantation dates can affect your due date. If I went by my lmp on September 18th that would put my due date at June 25th putting me at 9wks 4 days. But I charted my basal temp and know that I ovulated later on CD 25 putting my due date at July 5th. Today I had an ultrasound and it puts me at 8 wks 4 days and my due date at July 2 which confirms my temps.

    The way a due date is calculated is subtract 3 months add 7 days. You can't just add 9 months to your LMP because you would be a week off.

    What I'm confused about is, I have ALL the symptoms of week 8 and last week I had all the symptoms of week seven! I guess we'll know for sure on Thursday! Thank you everyone....I know it seems silly - this is my first so all this a VERY new to me!

    Every pregnancy is different. I'm always a week ahead compared to those too. No pregnancy is exactly by the book. They're pretty much generalizations.

    Yeah what is this "week 7 symptoms" "week 8 symptoms." You can have symptoms at any time, or none at all. You could have absolutely no morning sickness your entire first trimester, or you could have it starting at 4 weeks, 5 weeks, 6 weeks, etc...I really don't understand that statement.

    Also, as PP's have stated, your EDD would be the 12th.

    March 2008 - DD born - no issues conceiving (surprise). Limited issues during pregnancy/delivery.
    June 2011 - Married DH.
    June 2013 - Diagnosis of Endometriosis and PCOS (approximate).
    December 2013 - First cycle of Clomid - Positive OPK. BFN
    January 2014 - 2nd Cycle of Clomid - Positive OPK. BFN
    February 2014 - 3rd Cycle of Clomid - Positive OPK. BFN
    March 2014 - Took month off to prep for surgery
    April 2014 - Laporoscopy for endo. Unable to remove endo due to too close of proximity to ureter. HSG done as well. Fillopian tubes open.
    May 2014 - 1st round of Femara. Positive OPK. BFN.
    June 2014 - 2nd round of Femara. Moved to RE to have CD10 Follicular U/S. No Follies in left ovary. 5 follies in right. Largest follie 8mm, 1 7mm, 2 3mm, 1 2mm. Positive OPK on day of U/S. BFN. DH has SA done at this time - All results within normal limits.
    July 2014 - 3rd round of Femara. CD10 Follicular U/S. No follies in left ovary. 7 follies in right. 1 20mm, 1 12mm, 1 10mm, 4 <5mm. Scheduled for IUI. Canceled due to low estrogen level of 145. TI this month. Prepping for Injectables next month. BFN.
    August 2014 - CD3 BW Normal. Injectables not happening because of stupid miscommunication about "required injectables class." Taking class this month. No medication. TI for the month. SIS scheduled for 8/7/14. SIS results - "I have a beautiful uterus." Huzzah!
    September 2014 - Cycle cancelled due to stupid AF coming early and making my IUI run in to DH's business trip. Try again next month.
    October 2014 - Injects with IUI cycle. 75U 5 days. Estrogen at 36. Bumped up to 125 for 4 days. Estrogen 105. Bumped up to 225. Ganirelix for 2 days. 4 mature follies. Triggered 10/9. IUI 10/10.
    BFP 10/24/2014. Beta #1 - 178   Beta #2 - 398.   U/S 11/7/14- TWINS!!!!

    There are no symptoms by week. There are pregnancy symptoms. Yes, some change as you get further along (feeling baby kicks, for example). But um...yeah. That's not a thing. 

    Also, this is my two cents, I didn't have a dating ultrasound with DD and I wish I would have. I gave birth to her at 42.5 weeks. It was not fun. I wish I could have had a more accurate timeline. With this one, our new practice requires one. I'm thrilled.

    My LMP was Sept 28, my EDD is July 5th. So I'm not sure how you having your LMP a week later gives us the same due date. July 12th should be your EDD based on your LMP.

    Agreed. I started experiencing MS about two weeks earlier with this pregnancy than I did in my last one. Every woman and every pregnancy is different. While often MS kicks in high gear around weeks 6-7, there is certainly lots of variability and you can't date your pregnancy by the symptoms.

    OP, it definitely sounds like your OB just miscounted when she told you 5 weeks at your last appointment.

    @biancamoyes‌ wow our stories are almost identical. My LMP was sept 27th, first U/S was nov 14th & they back tracked me by one week(I thought I was 6w6d but they said I was 5w6d)

    So in nursing school we learned to calculate the due date you go to the first day of your last period and then add a week. Mine was Oct 1st so that would be the 8th. Then you subtract 3 months. So July 8th... Then you add a year so 2014 becomes 2015. :-) Hope that helps! My doc changed my date from July 8th to 7th based on size but other than that, pretty accurate.

    no such thing.  Symptoms are symptoms and can occur at any time.  Calculating due date off of the start of your last period is simply guess work.  The amount of women who actually ovulate on CD 14 is not that high.  There is a lot of variation in ovulation dates.  Please don't try and calculate your due date based on what are typical symptoms for a certain week.
