Nesting Like Crazy!

so I think things have gotten a little out of hand this week. I've felt an urgency to get everything done right this second. (My husband is getting a little annoyed)

My accomplishments this week -

-House cleaned from top to bottom

- Christmas cards bought, written in, addressed and sent out

- 95% done all my xmas shopping
(Includes stocking stuffers and I have wrapped everything Ive purchased)

- diaper bag packed (I'm putting off my hospital bag ... I hate packing )

- bottles, breastpump, soothers. all sanitized and put away

- all baby's clothes, swaddles, and blankets washed and put away

- baby equiptment all assembled

I've heard hardcore nesting means
That labour is approaching soon BUT I also have a suspicious feeling this one is going to be stubborn just like my first and arrive ten days late... I guess time will tell.

How are all you ladies doing? Has nesting turned your worlds upside down as well?

Re: Nesting Like Crazy!

  • I finished everything this weekend. Including scrubbing the tile in both bathrooms and finishing touches on the nursery. In thinking I will do a majority of Christmas shopping online and what doesn't get done is fine by me. I have finished the kids 90% (including the neice and nephew). Christmas cards will also be birth announcements so those have to wait.

  • Lol. You sound about the same as me. I have had all of my Christmas shopping done for about three weeks half of it is already wrapped the Christmas tree and decorations are going up tonight. I have cleaned out my fridge done all of the cleaning I scrubbed with so much Lysol with bleach last week I got bleach burns on two of my fingers which I did not know you could get. All of babies clothes are washed and put away and organized and the whole nursery has been organized as well. I as well hate packing and still not have my hospital bag that is the only thing I have left to do. Funny part is that's probably the most important. Three weeks to go but other than that I'm all ready.
  • My nesting is all in my head. I think of so many things I want to get done....
and then I take a nap. :p These babies are just sapping all my energy. Luckily they don't care if the house is a disaster. :)

  • I am nesting as I can ;). So far though, most of the house decluttered and half of the house is deep cleaned. I plan to finish the house this week (b/c of Thanksgiving I have some days off work and it's my son's yr to be at his dads so I should have time). Bags have been packed for a week b/c I had a conference last week that was 3 1/2 hrs away so I packed bags just in case. We've been doing nursery and baby items as we go so there are only a few things to finish in there (not a full load of laundry, decorating, and a few more thank you cards to mail).

I keep meaning to make meals and have yet to do it .... maybe this weekend I can make one or two at least ;). I move slow b/c of the carpal tunnel though so it takes twice as long to do stuff ;)- food may not happen...lol

  • Sounds like all of you are as bad as me!
  • @misskilljoy‌ I applaud all of your food prep. That is something I've been meaning to do but I can't bring myself to get it done. Maybe I can sweet talk my in laws in to coming over and cooking for the first 2 weeks? That's my plan!
  • Anyone want to come nest in my house? 4 kids and modified bed rest isn't helping the condition of my house
  • @nedralynn if you're keeping 4 kids alive while pregnant and on bedrest you have things under control! Health is more important then a perfectly clean house anyways .
  • @ScarlettsMommy0515‌ I can't promise by the end of the day they will be alive the way they have been behaving
  • I feel for you!! My toddler has just reached her terrible 2s. Last week was hell
  • I'm so jealous of all you nesters.  I've been struggling to find the energy but this thread has definitely inspired me!
  • Yeah I'm so over this 2yr old crap this not listening no matter what I do stuff is getting old and my BFs 3 are older but are acting like a bunch of 2yr olds too I might lose it
  • I made a "honey do list" and made him do the majority of it this weekend...does that count?

  • I think it totally counts @kim0710
  • I lucked out since we just moved in a month ago, so everything is still clean and organized. But today I got our "go bag" packed and the diaper bag done. Also bought a lot of stuff for meal prep.
  • I got my husband to start nesting. Had my 38 week appointment last week and I was 2cm dilated and 65% effaced. I personally know that is no indication of when labor is going to start, but husband (although I've told him before) sure got into gear finishing up some stuff because he's finally feeling like it could be any day. He deep cleaned the bathroom, secured our changing pad to the dresser, and a couple of other little things. I'm not complaining :)

Personally, I'm all done. Got clothes washed and folded, changing station set up, and everything put together. I think it helps we only have a 1 bedroom apartment so no nursery to worry about and not enough room to cram full with unnecessary stuff.

We're having thanksgiving just the two of us (family is out of state) and I'm planning on mass making food so I can freeze the leftovers for when baby comes. two birds, one stone

  • Reading your post actually reminded me that I'm nesting because I bought almost all of my Christmas gifts for people online and have them ready to wrap. I also bought holiday cards that I will need to fill out and I've been freezing every chunk of leftover food I can get my hands on. Its funny that I wasn't really noticing my nesting tendencies on my own.
Married my best friend 7/2/11 - Furbaby born 7/9/11 and brought into our home 9/1/11

  • Woo hoo! You go girl!! Nest away :))
  • I so been nesting and feeling lazy. But i did get alot of stuff done now im just ready.. both bags packed..
  • I am so jealous of everyones nesting!  I am having a c-section in 6 days and am nowhere near ready. We finally painted the nursery last weekend and replaced the carpet. The rest of the stuff needs to be moved in. I started my maternity leave this week so I have all week to do it.  Too bad I have no energy.  I went to the gas station to vacuum out my car so it would be nice and clean for DH to install the car seat.  So it is now about 930am and I have no energy left.

We are so behind due to having to build DD1 a new room upstairs. Our first two people working on it decided halfway through it was more work than they thought and quit.  We couldn't move DD1 out of the babies room with nowhere to go so we had to wait.  The house looks like a bomb went off but the baby will be in our room for a few months anyway so I'm at the point that I just don't care anymore. As long as he has some clean clothes and a place to sleep we can manage
  • My nesting wasn't because I felt like it ... it was more of a made myself do it... honestly I'd rather be taking naps to anything (work, cleaning, cooking, running son to activities), but life doesn't slow down b/c I'm tired.

If I can just knuckle down this week and finish what I need to then maybe I rest some (only have normal chores, activities) these last couple of weeks.
  • I've been nesting like crazy lately. I've been rearranging furniture (with H's help), washing cabinets, walls, floors, clothes, installed the carseat, washed all bedding and baby clothes, cleaned up outside, dusted fans, cleaned the fish tank, and stocked up on groceries. I can hardly walk now lol.
