Spit up stains

anyone have any favorite ways of removing spit up? I was holding a baby that doused me today, spit up all over favorite shirt. I'm hoping someone has a super great way because I think last time I mostly just had a lot of ruined clothing

Re: Spit up stains

  • Fels Naptha Bar!  Wet the stain a little - rub the bar over it, then throw the clothing in the wash.

  • I also am a huge fan of AWESOME.  I started using it when DS had white baseball pants this season, and they would get mega stained from mud/grass/field turf.  And bleach wasn't an option because the pants had a red stripe down the side.  Seriously, Awesome can get anything out, including red wine, spit up, tomato sauce.  I don't dilute it (I use full strength).  It can be found at Dollar Tree.

  • OxiClean. Adeline spit up a bunch as an infant and we went through soooo much OxiClean, it's my favorite!!

  • My go to for stains in general is blue dawn and hydrogen peroxide. It has gotten out almost everything I've tried it with, even baby clothes that were packed away stained and pulled out 3 years later

  • The sun!  I was even able to get out mystery stains on my baptismal gown 30 years later by washing and hanging outside for a few hours.

  • How about on the carpet? DH didn't move fast enough last night and Willa left a trail.
Depends, what color and type of carpet?

For clothes, a trick I learned as a nanny, I always kept a tub of oxi-clean and water mixed together on top of the washer or dryer, I call it the soak tub! Anytime kids would get a shirt, bib, pants, anything messy, just throw it in there to soak until I did laundry next. Saved many many outfits!

@ChickenOnSunday‌ I've used tide (or whatever laundry detergent you use) mixed with some water in a bucket and a scrub brush to get stains out of carpet.
  • @ChickenOnSunday - vinegar and water, scrub it with an old toothbrush. Should come right out.

  • @ChickenOnSunday‌ I use Fizzion for all pet stains on carpet. It is rather amazing stuff, oxyclean-esque.
