Re: ~*Born to Run JuneBugs 11/24*~

  • Good morning!  I had a very decent week last week in the workout department.  I worked out 5x which included 3 runs, 1 soccer game, and a day in the gym.  I did the stair master for the first time in a LONG time and I forgot how much I love/hate that thing!  I need to do better with strength.....still.  Struggling a bit with good nutrition.  My meals are fine, but the snacks!  This time of year is so difficult for me!

This week will be much of the same as last week and on Thanksgiving we are doing a Turkey Trot 5k as a family.  If it's not too cold, we will be pushing Julia in the stroller - I'm so excited!  Side note:  what is to cold for her to be in the stroller for 30 minutes?

I need some good running tights for this winter - got to do some research and get the good stuff as this winter is suppose to be brutal!  Suggestions appreciated if you have a pair you love!

  • Runs this week:
Much much better.  We ran 4 times, total of 12 miles.  We decided to run a 15k (farthest I've ever ran by far!) in February, so be started training.  I'm excited to actually have a goal to work towards.  If it works out maybe we'll do a half...

    Plans for this week:
Run at least 3 times, do some strength training, and maybe some yoga.  Gonna be a rough week diet wise!

    GTKY:
As usual, I plan on getting new shoes as my Christmas gift.  Maybe some long running tights, definitely new sports bras!!! Nursing and sports bras just doesn't mix.
  • Runs/workouts:
Managed to squeeze in 4. My goal was 5 but it just didn't work out! I am on week 3 of the insanity program since I don't enjoy running in the snow.

    Plans for this week:
5 days! I'm trying but something always seems to keep me from squeezing in a 5th.

    GTKY
Running tights and a better supportive bra so I don't have to wear 2! Lol
  • @CharSamm‌ I always wanted spin shoes!! I get so mad when mid class the straps get loose and your foot slides around. Drives me crazy--I like them really tight!
  • Can I join your check-in?  I never posted when we were pregnant (oops) but I could use some camaraderie, especially being back at work and trying to stay motivated!

Runs/Workouts - I have had two brisk walks so far this week, that's it.  I started work Monday and it's kicking my butt.  On Sunday, DH came with me and I pushed the stroller while he walked the dog.  Last night, I wore the baby and took the dog (the poor guy needs exercise, too) so it wasn't as good a pace as I would have liked, but we did stay out for an hour.

What are your health/fitness plans for the week - Trying not to be too hard on myself, but I am looking to figure out a new routine now that I'm back in the office.  AND most importantly, forcing myself to get up and walk around the airport while I'm at work.  I can't just sit here for 8 hours straight!

GTKY - What are some fitness related things on your holiday wish list this year?  I know lululemon is crazy $, but I love their yoga pants and they seem to last a solid 1.5-2 years.  I'm due for a new pair, I might ask DH for a gift card this year.

Can I ask a side question - how/when are you working mom's finding the time to get workouts?  I'm stressing out about it.  I feel like I'm not going to have that time for myself ever again.

  • @mease8 - I'm glad to hear that you're not afraid of the cold weather with the baby.  I have been bundling DS up and taking him with me even though there have been some chilly days.  I figure I'll know when it's just too cold, right?

  • Good job on the fitness front ladies!  Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

@lest12 - The more the merrier - welcome!  Walks during lunch breaks seems good! What time does LO go to bed?  Although I don't work, I don't have the time during the day to exercise while watching her so I wait until she goes to bed and then do it even though it's the friggin last thing on earth I want to do at that time of day.  Finding a routine and getting into it will be the hardest part but you will find what works for you and make it work!

  • @kinipela7 - Hi!  LO is adorable, first of all!

I think that's part of my struggle.  LO Is going to bed around 8, and I'm trying to get to bed myself around by 9-10:00.  And in between I'm doing dishes, washing bottles, taking a shower, getting ready for work the next day.  I work 7-3 so it's feels like a very early wake-up call.

I think my best bet might be to exercise before dinner... I feel guilty putting LO in his chair or activity mat while I do it (after working all day) but it might be better for everyone's sanity.

  • @lest12  I run with DH, he's my work out buddy.  I am lucky to have my family close by so they watch her if we go to the gym otherwise we take LO in the jogging stroller.  We go around 6-7 at night.  LO doesn't really go to bed very early tho, so that helps.  I know some women were/are/do get up at an obscene hour to get a work out in before everyone is up... Thats just not me.
