I've been back to work 1 day and it happens

This morning my mother in law, who babysits the boys and my nephew calls and tells my DH that she is sick and that she cannot watch the boys today.  Of course, because DH had a state evaluation today (he is a special ed teacher) and I cannot call into work my 2nd day back from maternity leave!  I mean, I feel bad that she is sick, but it just stinks that I've been back for one day and it's already happened.

But, here is the kicker.  She didn't make my sister n law call into work, she told her that she could bring her kid over!  Amazing (this is the type of crap that she does with my SIL...she could be on her death bed and would move a mountain for her)

Anyways, thankfully my mom who is currently laid off could come over to watch them!  I hate the winter time and sickness!

  • For this exact reason, I am so ready to be done with work.  It is so stressful when someone is sick.

Glad everything worked out for you!

  • That does stink but I'm glad everything worked out with your mom being able to come over. Hopefully things will go as planned from here on out.

    Happy New Year!

  • I hated having to scramble to find someone to watch DS when my mom was sick.  I'm glad it worked out for you today.

And that's rotten that she treats your SIL so differently.  Does she treat your kids the same as hers?

  • That is so not fair.  She should watch all or none.

    Also, love the sig pic!

  • No she treats SIL and her kids totally different from the rest.  She feels "sorry" for them because they (SIL and BIL) are total losers and cannot pay their bills and are poor because they are lazy.  She spent $500 on my nephew for Christmas, PLUS paid for all of the presents that SIL wanted to get him and spent $100 on our kids and my other SIL's kids.  It is insane how differently she treats her!
  • Ugh not cool!  Sorry you are already back at work, but I'm glad to see you back on here.
  • Haven't you been complaining about the situation with her since before you had DS#2? I really think it is time to cut your losses and get the boys in full-time care somewhere else, somewhere reliable, somewhere that they can thrive. It just sounds like an unhealthy situation.
