Happy Sunday all!
LO will be 1 in a couple of weeks and my supply has been gradually diminishing as we near the finish line. We have been supplementing with 1 bottle of formula a day when I don't pump enough at work and recently introduced whole cow's milk in small amounts.
As we near the 12 month mark I am so confused on the transition to cow's milk. I know the recommended amount is 16-20 ounces a day, but I would like to continue to breastfeed morning and night. Does that impact the amount of cow's milk I should be giving?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Re: Transitioning to cow's milk
Our pediatrician told us that 2 to 3 good nursing sessions (not just nibble and run) plus two or three servings of other dairy are good enough for no other milk to drink. Cheese and yogurt serving sizes for a baby are surprisingly small and very easy to get in. This could be cheese straight or in various forms, like baked into stuff, or parmesan on pasta etc, plus yogurt, pudding, ice cream (obviously the sweet stuff in moderation, but it counts!).
We offer plenty of water to hydrate, she has a sippy of water all day every day.
