Advice/ anyone in this situation

This is my first pregnancy and I have my first appointment on the 1st. I am so sick. I can't even keep a sip of water down. I was expecting morning sickness but this is worse than I ever imagined. I am using sea bands but they don't seem to be working. Any words of wisdoms/ advice would really be appreciated.

  • I was told I can take Dramamine too.

Keep crackers on your nightstand and eat a few before even getting out of bed in the morning. Don't let yourself get hungry because then your blood sugar drops and it gets worse. Lots of protein and eating small meals or snacks basically around the clock.

  • Thank you all for the advice. Such bad timing as I have family coming for Thanksgiving and I can't even get out of bed right now! I will try your suggestions and will give my dr. a call first thing tomorrow.
  • I find that distracting myself helps a bit, too. I'll get into a good movie or phone conversation and briefly forget that I'm nauseaus until it's over.

  • Make sure the pants you're wearing aren't too tight.  That can contribute to the nausea as well.

  • I second everyone who said call your doc.. Zofran is my best friend!
I also agree with not letting yourself get too hungry... If I go too long without eating it gets bad quick & doesn't go away for awhile, even with eating.. Crackers by your bedside are a great idea!

  • Try hot water vs cold water... I found warmer water is easier when I'm starting to feel a bit upset
  • Hugs!  This was me my first pregnancy.  If I was vertical I was throwing up!  Yuck & no fun!  I found myself to be super against the norm.  I found the only time I was comfortable was when I was really full.  Most say smaller more frequent meals, not me I had to be super full to be comfortable.

  • This was me during my first pregnancy! Call your doctor and get zofran! I waited too long with my first and ended up admitted to the hospital and sent home with a PICC line in and had iv fluids and a zofran pump 24/7 for a month!

  • I took a Zyrtec before bed last night (for allergies), and noticed a huge improvement in my nausea today. Not sure if it's related, but I did a little research, and there seems to be a correlation between antihistamines and pregnancy related nausea. Feel better!

I would constantly be sucking on Gobstoppers with my 1st. Something about sucking on a hard candy helped a lot. Plus it was a good excuse to eat some candy.
Please excuse typos....auto correct hates me. =)
