Squishing baby

i keep freaking out when I lay on my sides I feel baby's little body parts under me which freaks me out that I'm squishing him. I sat forward the other day and he had an arm or leg in my hip freaked me out! Is it possible to hurt your little one in the womb? My husband likes to shake him (not hard) to get him moving????

Re: Squishing baby

  • I'm pretty sure you're fine. They don't sick their hands or feet under anything that isn't soft, squishy tissue and organs so it bends around them. Also, they're free floating in a very thick sac of fluid that protects them from minor movements damaging them.

How do you let your husband do that though? It sounds painful and uncomfortable. I might hit someone for shaking my belly.

  • Lol he doesn't do it a lot I almost hit him the other night when I had ligament pain going on.

Since you are a FTM then you know pretty much 90% of our thoughts are worries. I want to get opinions on other moms out there who have expiernce since I have zero.
I like seeing what others are going through it helps me know that my worries are the same worries of other moms so I know everything is ok.
  • thedish0207 mine has been doing that the past few days and I can't get him to move!  it creates just a little point of annoying pain.
  • Like other PP, 90% of my thoughts are, wait, what was I gonna say?

This is my second baby and I have no idea most of the time! Sometimes with the way they move, I think it is easier to tell what is bumping you from the inside :p

The majority of my thoughts are "oh shit, what's that word?"

I swear, my vocabulary is down like 50% since getting knocked up.

  • Holy Jesus, nowhere near 90% of my thoughts are worries. 90% of my thoughts aren't even about the baby.

LOL, I might be entering obsessive territory. While 90% of my thoughts aren't about baby, I'm sure close to 90% of the time I have passing thoughts about it.

I agree that most of my thoughts aren't worries, though.

  • No, basic belly bumps aren't going to hurt the baby. Yesterday I stopped something from sliding out of the trunk of my car with my belly... I thought it was hilarious because without thinking I just stuck my belly out (FI not so much)..so though I don't recommend it as an extra appendage... It's also not a giant egg-shell.

And yes.. My thoughts are more consumed by food, my life in the non-baby sense, some baby thoughts, and now as I move all of my stuff... Thoughts on how much I miss my clothes. Yep. I've actually loved pregnancy and being a part of F15 has made me love it more than I ever thought I would... But I'm starting to transition to thoughts of giving the kid an eviction notice.

And yes, I'm a FTM who doesn't sweat the small stuff. If I'm worried enough to post about it, I'm worried enough to call my OB... And if it's too silly to call the OB I figure it's not that serious.
