1st Baby Anxiety

So I just took a home pregnancy test today and it was positive!! :)
My husband and I have been trying for 4.5 months to conceive our 1st child and I've had symptoms for a week (nausea, bloating, breast tenderness, spotting, moodiness). So if I'm right I'm 5 weeks and 2 days and my EDD is 7/23/14.
I feel like this isn't real though. Like it's too good to be true. I keep worrying and having anxiety already thinking something might happen or maybe the test was a false positive. Anyone else out there feeling the same way or have the same experience?

Re: 1st Baby Anxiety

  • Welcome and Congrats!! That's a really common feeling if you search a bit you'll see several ladies have taking numerous tests and scheduled early dr visits just to calm their nerves. Best advice I can give is relax and take care of yourself. Get into you doctor when you can to confirm and just enjoy your pregnancy!

  • I (along with many others I'm sure) was very freaked out with my first pregnancy too... I have always seen on here that false negatives are possible but false positives are like next to never!
You just have to do your best to relax; take it easy, pamper yourself, and just enjoy the fact that today you are pregnant! Honestly, there isn't much you can to do to prevent a miscarriage from happening.. But worrying about it all the time definitely does not help! I've had a few losses myself so I understand the stress.. For me, prayer brings me a lot of peace.. Find something that works for you!
Congrats and a H&H 9 months to you!

  • You're totally normal!  I think many, if not all, feel that way.  I POASd for 2 weeks straight.  Like others said, get in to your doctor for a test to confirm.  Congrats!

  • I'm in the same boat. My EDD is July 24,2015 and this is my husband and I's first baby. I get nervous with every symptom that I feel and I keep reading to make sure what's going on with my body is normal. I have an OBGYN apt next week and I have a two page list of questions. I have not been able to sleep well, is this a common symptom? I'm also itchy, what should I do?
