Intro/hCG Levels

Hello all,

I am a 28 year old, newly married woman who is eager to start a family. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for only a few short months.  I missed my period last week and took a few pregnancy tests.  All of them had very faint positive signs.  I went to my OBGYN to get blood work done to confirm the pregnancy.  They called me back the next day and said my hCG level was at a 40, they said that it was low (or that I was just really early), and they wanted me to come back in 48 hours to see how the levels were rising.  I went back 48 hours later and they just called and said the levels were only raised by 2 and that it was now at 42.  The nurse kind of scared me and told me that if I started bleeder or felt any sever pain or flu like symptoms to go to the ER.  Just want to prepare myself for different scenarios that could happen.  Has anyone had this same problem and had a normal pregnancy? Has anyone had this problem and miscarried? Any help or advice would be much appreciated it.  Thank you!
