Catching my breath

Does anyone else notice that doing physical activities causes you to breathe harder than usual? I walk stairs at work and at home, and walks several blocks to/from my car for work and just doing those activities I had noticed my breathing is very heavy! Its almost embarrassing at work while walking to my car with co-workers, since I haven't told them I'm prego yet lol. But anyone else notice this? I'm going to start walking more during the day to help blood flow, but dang...oxygen, please!! ;) lol

Re: Catching my breath

  • Yeah, I'm having the same issue. I'm going to incorporate walking into my days as well. I feel like a heffalump already!

Haha! Heffalump....yessss! I feel the same way when trying to suck in air lol. Love the word, and so stealing it! ;)
  • Yep. Our washer/dryer is in our basement, by the time I get up two flights of stairs to our bedroom, I have to sit & catch my breath. Crazy!

Did your dr give you any suggestions of helping witht this? I'm hoping walk I more might help adjust it a little?

I haven't talked to my doctor lol. Dh means husband, if you thought I did a typo for dr. But I honestly don't think there is much you can do. It happened in my last pregnancy but more in the second trimester. That's why I was surprised I was having it this early.

  • Yes. I distinctly remember feeling like this while pg with my DD. I felt like I couldn't ever catch my breath. I was ALWAYS yawning.

  • I walk to and from work too. And I've noticed that I have a hard time keeping my breath. And I used to run before my BFP!

  • Yep. It's normal. Your blood volume is increasing dramatically and your body is working really hard to grow another organ and a human. The worst for me is having to speak in front of a group of people. It sounds like I'm running a marathon.

  • I feel that talking makes me short of breath sometimes let alone walking! Lol
  • Yes! Literally one day I was running up the steps out of the subway and now I have to crawl and I still take a few minutes to catch my breath afterwards.

Oh yes. I live on Guam and go hiking once a week. They are long hikes and it gets so hot here. I notice I'm having a hard time with them now and even before I knew I was pregnant I had noticed I had been getting out of breath. I'm a pretty in shape person so I've been tempted to tell people just so I don't look out of shape gasping for breath and wanting to take a break. Lol
  • I talk a lot for my job and have to catch my breath using a lot of pregnant pauses (see how I did that? =D> )
