Water broke, looks like a nov baby!

Hi ladies! I don't post a lot but thought I would share my story. Water broke early yesterday morning at 33w1d. It was like the movies, a Niagara Falls type gush. Luckily I was at home! Total shock and no other labor signs, no contractions etc. Also wasn't dilated. So now, staying in hospital until baby arrives, they want him to stay in there until 34 weeks which they will then induce labor (on thanksgiving!). Any longer and risk of infection increases too much, so hoping he stays put until 34w. I always thought once water breaks baby is there within hours but I guess in the absence of other labor progression they can let him stay a tad longer. They don't know quite why this happens, in 50% of cases it is because of a symptom-free infection, but they won't know that until about a week after running some lab tests.

Anyway, been on heavy flow of IV antibiotics, gotten a couple steroid shots to help baby's lungs get stronger. He is already a good size, they are estimating 5.5 lbs (I honestly thought up until now I was having a 10 lb baby), so I'm hoping his stay in nicu is short lived!!! Or maybe not at all? Scary to think I'll deliver a baby and maybe not get to hold him right away, but all I care about is his health, so am just thinking good thoughts for strong lungs for our little turkey tom baby. (Not his name...that's another debacle, we have 6 days to figure out!)
