NCDR Bathroom Vanity

We are getting ready to update our master bath. Since we're not planning to stay here a lot longer, we want our upgrades to appeal to buyers. Currently we have one long vanity with a sink centered in the middle. This works great for us because we are never in the bathroom at the same time. We also have another bathroom on the same floor (with double sinks) if we both needed to get ready at the same time. If you were in the market for a house, would you prefer one sink with lots of counter space or two sinks with a single counter space in the middle?

We're the same in that we're rarely getting ready at the same time. For us, counter top space is a much more appreciated feature

I would personally want one sink because DH and I don't get ready at the same time, so it would be more functional for our needs. However, I think in general, people get pretty excited about double sinks. They always do on HGTV, anyway

If anything, I don't think anyone would consider double sinks a drawback. But someone might think one sink is a drawback, especially in a master bath. I would probably go with the double sinks.

Stoney makes a good point. Most potential buyers won't be turned off by double sinks, but some may not like a single.

If we do double vanities, should we keep the long mirror and frame it out like this with lights above?

Or do two mirrors and sconces in between like this?

Two mirrors, because you are losing counter space by having two sinks. You can hide medicine cabinets behind the mirrors and get more storage. Also, I like medicine cabinets that have lights and electrical outlet inside. They make some really nice ones these days.

Yeah, when we redid our bathrooms our designer told us this was because it lights the face more evenly for makeup application.

I work in property management and people always want double sinks, but they really don't get used that often. We were so excited for the double sink vanity when purchasing our home, but since we don't get ready at the same time one sink always stays unused regardless.
