Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

No working.

I had my D&C last Saturday and my first day back to work is tomorrow and Sunday. I had my first real meltdown last night and I'm just so exhausted and I just don't want to go back. I'm not ready. I'm a cna so it's going to be overwhelming, I can already feel it. I thought about calling in but I was just wondering how long anyone else has taken off for work afterwards?

Re: No working.

  • I'm a Marriage and Family Therapist and I am so grateful that Thanksgiving is this coming week because my caseload is much lighter than usual. I took off all of last week because of bleeding, an then MC starting on Thursday. I have to go back to work Monday, but it is a much lighter load than usual.

I advocate for you to take off as much time as you need/can manage with your family and situation. There is no right amount of time to heal physically and emotionally from what is going on. Only you know what is best for you. I would encourage you to continue to do things though. Start small by taking care of your home or family, do grocery shopping or cook meals. Slowly begin to get back into your routine. It will help make the transition back to work less abrupt and more smooth in terms of transitioning your schedule.

Thoughts and Prayers to you & your family!

  • Thank you @TowerClimbersWife‌ and @sweetcalittc1‌. I ended up calling in this morning because last night was rough, this morning is a little better so I'm hoping I feel ok enough to go in tomorrow morning. I'm so sorry for the both of your losses. It's a rough time.
  • It's always hard to go back to work but sometimes it can be a good thing. I was working during my MC but I was fortunate enough to be able to work from home. I feel it would have been much harder if I had go go into the office.

    towerclimberswife has some great advice.

    *hug*
I am not sure how to say this without getting a "solicitation" warning so I guess I just say that I am not longer active on THIS site.

  • I took the day of off (miscarried naturally but was in the ER due to passing out). I think work helped me the most. I would have been more of a wreck staying home. Work keeps your mind off of everything.
    You can do it.
    Good luck!
  • I'm like 4N6s, work actually helped me keep my mind off things.

  • I took about two weeks off. I knew one week wasn't enough as I was crying everyday all day. But like the others said, do what you feel is best for you. People tried telling me to go back earlier but I didn't want to. I did what I thought was the best for me physically and emotionally.

    Hugs to you! xo
  • Thank you to everyone!( @Nikolie93‌ @4N6s‌ @mylittlegemini‌.) today has been better and I'm more emotionally stable so I'm going back tomorrow. Apparently the nurses were pretty pissed because we got more admits last night but I couldn't help it and would have been no good to anyone anyway. I explained what happened to one of the nurses so hopefully she understands. If not on well, I couldn't help it. You can't really understand unless you've been through it. Thank you for everyone's input and advice. I think going back will keep my mind busy and off of things! Hugs to you all**
  • @ashleyann62215‌ sorry but screw them if they don't understand.

I hope work is going ok for you today!

  • I did ok at work! @Nikolie93‌ . Thank you for asking. The nurses weren't mad at me and they thanked me for all my hard work at the end of the day. Turns out keeping me busy makes a big difference. As soon as I got home I lost it, but its progress! Thanks ladies!
  • That's great news! I hope you continue to have less and less bad days when you get home from work *hug*

  • @ashleymann62215 That's great to heat! I found going back to work and getting out of the house helped a lot. At first I was nervous to get back out into the real world but slowly I was getting more comfortable being around people again.
