July 2015 Moms

First trimester goes sooooo slow!

i don't know if I'm the only one feeling this way.. Maybe because I've had miscarriages in the past, I just hope that my first trimester will pass safely asap. Or the morning sickness. But I'm just like... I can't believe it's still 6 wks 4 days! I found out really early, too. At like 4 wks. I just wish I cloud find some ways to make this time pass sooner!!

Re: First trimester goes sooooo slow!

  • I agree and it doesn't help that I found out early so that just drug out the first trimester even more. Though I am sure in July we will be looking back saying how these 9 months flew by

  • I know, I don't know why I was so eager to POAS. When you know you are pregnant at 3w3d your first trimester feels very long! So happy to be 6w now ... now at least the babe is an embryo! And the heart starts beating this week... even though I don't get to hear it til my first midwife appointment in 3 weeks. This will be a long 3 weeks. Grateful it is holiday time as the holidays do seem to make time pass more quickly (so much to do!).

  • The holidays are helping time fly for me! My first trimester with the last one was in March-April , not much was going on.
Now my schedule is already planned until early January! (Aka the end of my first trimester)

  • I think more for me it is going slowly because I'm waiting for my first appointment. I think when I was pregnant with dd, the second trimester was slow for me. Of course the kicks eventually happened and that helped :)

That's what I thought about this time around too. In my head, I was thinking that I would be so laid back because I've BTDT and I have a 22 month old. Nope, I feel like a FTM all over again!

  • I am SO happy to be pregnant that I don't mind that it's going slowly but like PP's have said, I'd feel much better if I'd had my first appointment already. I'm only 5w5d so I still have another 2-ish weeks before seeing the heartbeat which wil def put my mind at ease.

  • Yeah my sonogram will be in 3 wks and I can't wait... After hearing the heartbeat and seeing the fetus, I would feel much better waiting until the second trimester!
  • So true!! I talked to my spa lady yesterday and she told me she is 8 weeks pregnant. I was excited and jealous at the same time lol that she Is closer to the 12 week mark. Lol...but I am also happy for the Holidays. The time will fly by quicker with all the engagements to attend. :-)

  • I agree the first trimester does seem sloth like. The third goes by almost to fast. At first you feel like the day will never come and then when it days you fee like you didn't have enough time.

If you think it feels slow now, wait until you get to the last month!  Every day feels like an eternity at that point.
See, for me the last month went by very quickly!  I was racing to finish up projects at work, and I was feeling ok then (versus TERRIBLE now!).  Of course DD came a few days early... I'm sure if she'd come late the days would have started dragging by at the end.

  • Things feel very slow around here too! I am only in my 4th week so I don't even really "feel pregnant" yet.

  • Yup. I'm trying to focus on work and my 12 month old... saying "I'm almost 6 weeks now and after thanksgiving I'll almost be 7 weeks." Its taking forever.

  • Same here.  This feels painfully long and I'm only a 4-5 weeks.  My anxiety is making it feel that. much. longer.  I cannot wait for my first OB appointment Dec. 15, especially because my doctor does a dating U/S then.

I'm a horrible good-news keeper and just want to tell everyone.  I think once I can talk about it more and feel more comfortable/confident planning for the future, it won't seem nearly as bad.  There's just so much to worry about and so little to actually do.

  • I'm waiting to get blood taken on monday to see what the numbers are, so this weekend is dragging! I'm sure after that I can focus on the holidays to help pass the time. I am hosting thanksgiving and christmas. We bought a house in July and went from a 2 bed tiny apt. to a house. We are super excited to have space for family finally!

My dating u/s is on the 15th too. I'm 6w2d right now and have known since 3w6d. It feels like the longest wait ever to get to that day and see that everything is alright!

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one. I thought I was paranoid!
  • Am I 13 weeks yet?!

    Feels like forever

  • I found out at 6 weeks. Time seems to be going buy fairly slowly but sometimes it seems about normal. I think what makes it go slow for me is all the thoughts running through my head..especially any negative ones that pop in there! I agree with @WafflesFriendsWork‌ about having too much to worry about and not enough to do yet! I have found that keeping my mind on things I can do to fuel and support a healthy pregnancy helps..then I feel like I have something important to do! :)

    Prayers for all!

For me with my first child, the 1st went by slowly, 2nd flew by, and 3rd was slow again. When you get to that point where you barely sleep because of hip pain and can't breathe from walking across the room, then time does seem to slow down. I dread the 3rd trimester hard stuff again, but it's worth all the crap, of course!

ETA My first appointment and dating ultrasound isn't until 8 wks 5 days. It feels so far away!

  • I agree the slowness is horrible.  With my first pregnancy, every new week I learned all sorts of new information and was so excited for different fruits each week.  After that loss, I am feeling like UGH still only a blueberry?!  Getting past that loss date can't come soon enough.

The part that is especially hard is not telling anyone.  Whenever I have a secret, I get extra quiet (introverted social anxiety freak here!) and feel like I can't say anything to anyone.  It's hard to "forget" that I'm pregnant so I can carry on like a normal person, but it's consuming all my thoughts.  I would LOVE to tell my mom, but she can't keep a secret AT ALL so it has to stay locked up until I at least get a good u/s.

I completely relate to everything you wrote @OctoberStars‌. What should have been my first angel's due date is Jan 5th which will be sad but I'm so grateful I will be pregnant. I was dreading it approaching without yet having my rainbow in my ute.

  • Yes!!! It's dragging! And of course I'm due at the very end of July so I'm only 4 w 2 d.
  • I went to my first appointment, and it felt like it took forever to get here.  Now I have another appointment scheduled, for my first ultrasound, and THAT feels like it's going to take forever.  I'm so excited for my first ultrasound.  I'm definitely jealous of those women that had early ultrasounds.  I know this is my first and I should be enjoying pregnancy, but I want to know what's going on inside my body!!!

  • It feels like a long time, but it definitely goes the fastest - you don't even know you're pregnant for the first 3-4 weeks which makes it even shorter!

Just wait until third tri when you have massive cankles, can't fit in your clothes, everything hurts and you can't sleep, you'll be thinking to yourself 'wow, first tri went so quickly, why can't third go that fast???'
