Back pain!

Having really bad back pain, but not getting better with resting on my left side :/ any suggestions?!

There are tons of things it could be (baby laying on a nerve, uncomfortable growing pains, etc). Ask yourself if it's something you need to call your emergency line for...or is it something you can take a Tylenol, put a pillow between your legs, and call it an early night.
Edit: wanted to add...try the cat/cow yoga pose.

  • Only thing working for me is back rubs and heat pack it does not fix my pain 100% no way but it does help nothing else has :/ .. I've been to labor and delivery due to it being so painful but it's just something I kinda gotta deal with ... Hope you can find something to help ya. Good luck !
  • Although this doesn't offer immediate relief, my best advice is to workout and focus on your back muscles.  I did not work out much with my first two pregnancies and was achey and sore with both of them.  I have been much better with #3 and 4 and it is like night and day.  I sleep awesome and have no pain whatsoever.

I also second the cat to cow yoga stretch.  I do that in the shower after an hour of swimming laps and it is seriously the best part of my day.  If feels so good.

It may seem counterintuitive to move more and depending on how active you currently are limits what you can/should do but anything is better than nothing.

  • I asked my OB at an appointment once and she gave me a brochure for different back exercises.

  • I have been having trouble this week too. I find child's pose, butterfly sit and wall pelvic tilts help. I tend to get tight glutes and it refers up into my back. I've also used a heating pad. Also-try prenatal massage if you can. Sending good vibes your way!
  • Thanks guys! I went to my OB today because the pain would just not go away and they told me that one of my twins is resting on my sciatic nerve! So that's why I'm feeling like this! It feels good to know what's causing this instead of worrying!
