I invited MIL to the growth scan today since she hasn't gotten to be at any ultrasounds for any of her grandkids - and Reid might very well be the last one. I am regretting it already.

Is she going? I did that for my MIL when I was pregnant with C. I also did that for her when we went wedding dress shopping for my dress. She doesn't have daughters and I wanted her to feel included. She went and she was good about it. Hopefully it turns out ok. I'm sure your H will appreciate the kind gesture (mine did).

I almost called in because DS had a cough. I wanted to call in so bad and convinced myself that DS was a valid reason. I felt guilty because DS only had a cough, no fever, no other symptoms AND DH is off Fridays, so there was no reason for me to call in. I now regret my decision and wish I had just done it.

I had a Peppermint Mocha after my GD test! There's a Starbucks literally two buildings down from my doctor. I say GO FOR IT!!

You can reduce the pumps if you're *really* concerned about the sugar. Enjoy.

She is coming. She also doesn't have daughters, so I'm happy I made the gesture, I'm just tired about all the calls about it. She has already called me 5 times to discuss the whole thing. I asked DH if he wanted me to, he didn't care. I can't tell if she really wants to be there or is just feeling obligated.

@cougarette , that is why I will be asking them to take care of Hailey and our dog when I go into labor. I lucked out 3 years ago, they were in France when I went into labor with Hailey.

I've worn the same comfortable pair of black pants and black cardigan every single day this week to work, with just a different undershirt/scarf. No one has said anything. This may be my new uniform.

me to. they stayed at the hospital the entire time my sil was in labor. they intend to do that while im in labor and keep dd in the waiting room.

im being induced and im hoping i can get my doctor to do it before the 12th because my inlaws will be in hawaii then.

I was invited to a virtual shower and think it is capital T tacky. Before you get out your flamethrower, please read on:

I am totally good with a virtual shower for military families or families overseas and wouldn't side eye that one bit and would be happy to participate. I have also heard of virtual showers where a group gets together in a central location and skypes the mtb and watches her open presents. This is none of the above, a gift grab and the mtb and ftb will be in town (ftb's whole family is here) at some point between the thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Also if someone was high risk and couldn't travel, totally get it, would not think twice about it. This is a "here are the registries, send us gifts!" Type deal.

My ex had my girls last night and sent DD2 to school sick today. He dosed her up with cold meds. I got a call from school at 10 to pick her up. I am 95% sure he did that so he didn't have to make a second stop on his way to work this morning (to bring her home). I hope he gets sick. On thanksgiving.

Eta: DD2 and I are having Ramen for lunch.

I didn't do squat (even though I should) and I didn't want to go because I didn't want to have an intellectual, writerly discussion today. So not in the mood. I read recaps of this week's Sleepy Hollow instead.

I don't bathe my child. DD has a bath every night but DH does it. I'm Around getting things done but never doing the actual bathing. Since i was always BF this was his bonding thing and now I seem to be just milking it.

@sarabeller‌ I love titted out of solidarity-my mom is passive-aggressive and narcissistic. Everything has to be about her, including this pregnancy. I am scared shitless of being like her and having a strained relationship with my daughter like we have. I am sorry your mom is like that, it makes me sad that my mom is so difficult but I am coming to terms with it.

I can't stop drinking egg nog every day. I even bring it in a small non-see through tumbler to work because someone commented on me heating up milk in the microwave and I don't want to tell people I'm drinking it every day.

I watched The Holiday a few weeks ago which started this and now I just can't stop.

I'm with you ladies...I have to walk on egg-shells around my mom and it drives me nuts. At one point years ago I severed the relationship and it was terribly hurtful to my dad and brother (namely because she was terrorizing and threatening them). So now I play nice and realize that's how she's going to roll. Whatever. But I never, ever, ever want to be like her and I tell my DH that he ever sees me going that route he should smack me.

@sarabeller @Mrs. Zee I am the same way. My mom is a liar and a hypocrite. I am decent with her because she is the grandmother of my children, but I have always vowed to never be anything like her. I've told DH that I will not parent like she did, and if I ever start to act like her he better tell me. There are so many things I would like to say to her, but I keep my mouth shut and just vent to DH. God bless him.

@sarabeller lovetit for sympathy and understanding. My mother makes EVERYTHING about her including my pregnancy. Today we argued about coats and car seats and go home outfits. Turns out she lives 7 hours away and these are my kids....

@Hailsmom you are quite brave. I gave in and invited the family to my 3D ultrasound next week. A friend is doing it as a gift for us - she's a PA for an OB, so she's doing it on Black Friday when their clinic is closed, so it won't be a spectacle with 10 of us traipsing in. Like you, I'm already regretting it.......

Seriously, we had to have been married to the same moron! My ex does the same thing! He will even text me to say one of the kids wasn't feeling well but he didn't think they were sick enough to stay home. Of course, I always get the call.
