I was poking around the attachment parenting board since that seamed to be the best place to find advice. Curious with you ladies too. How many of you are baby wearers? When did you start and what did you use? Did you wait until baby was here before picking a method to see what they liked?
I would very much like to baby wear as early as is possible, but I don't love the idea of the slings which seems to be one of the more popular methods in the first few months. I saw there is a normal baby carrier that has an infant insert, so I'm going to research that a bit, but curious to hear from others, especially from a wider range then those who follow attachment parenting.
Re: Infant Baby wearing
Wore DD in a moby as well the first few months. When she got a bit heavier moved to a Didymos (a little warm for florida in the summer but a nice wrap). Once she got to that annoying walking, I want to get down/I want to get up stage moved to a Tula.

I wanted to try to Boba wrap, but everyone is sold out! Is the Boba wrap no more?
F15 December Siggy Challenge:
My recommendation is to go to a local baby wearing meeting if you have one. That way you can actually see/touch/wear the different types of carriers and see what you like best (check out babywearing international to find a local chapter). They encourage pregnant mommas to come and usually have a weighted doll for you to use to try everything out with. If you're not into the ring sling, I would recommend either a soft structured carrier such as an Ergo, or a wrap. Moby wraps are great for the cuddly newborn stage but once the baby is over 15 pounds they tend to sag a lot and are hard to use comfortably and safely. If you are interested in wrapping, you can invest in a woven wrap for under $100 and it will last you through the toddler years.

I tried the Maya sling w/DS but couldn't get a good feel for it. Wasn't crazy about the Moby wrap (though those who used it rave about it). We used the Boba 4G carrier when he was bigger.
With this baby, I've tried on the Boba Wrap and plan to use this. I like that it's stretchier material (unlike the other wraps) and the wrapping seems easier.
Ergo, K'Tan, Becco are also great. HATE the Bjorn as they still advertise infant forward-facing.
I used the Moby very early on last time. It was awesome. Makes the baby feel very secure. The only down side is it was hot. DS is a June baby. This time I plan on using it even more since it won't be so hot. YouTube videos are the best for learning how to put it on.
We started using the Ergo around 3-4 months and continued until DS was almost 18 months. He didn't like being on my back and he just got to heavy for me. But he loved it.
I got a used Beco Gemini this time, cause I wanted the option to wear baby face forward when old enough. I have heard all good things.
My other goal this time is to nurse in all carriers. I never got the hang of that last night.

I agree with this! Babywearing international is awesome!
I used a moby for my first when she was a baby, it was okay, but I was never in love. I bought a beco Gemini when she was a little bit older and LOVE it! I bought a k'tan with my second and I couldn't get it tight enough, first I bought a large, because I'm chunky, it was huge, exchanged it for a medium and it was still too loose, and they wouldn't let me exchange it again, so I sold it. I then found Babywearing international and checked out a maya ring sling and fell in love! I used it for two months until my lady fit well in the Gemini.
A maya ring sling was my first purchase for this new baby! I can't wait to wear a newborn again!!!
