Supplements / additional vitamins

What (if anything) are you taking in addition to your prenatal vitamin?

I'm taking a omega 3 gummy and a probiotic.

  • I take extra calcium but I am lactose so I don't eat much dairy. I try to pick natty ally nutrient foods to supplement with (which is a challenge for me since I typically eat like crap)

  • Vitamin D supplements. I had a blood test done because of a weird ocular migraine I got at 5 weeks and found out I was severely deficient.
  • I take extra Iron and Omega 3.

  • My OB suggested DHA....haven't gotten it just yet. Is anyone else taking that??

  • @ashleynslattery Didn't know that about gelatin. Did your OB approve that?  I have issues with IBS too. Does it really help?

  • I'm taking DHA. My chiropractor encouraged it. She specializes in prenatal chiropractic stuff. Mostly DHA (not EPA) and free of contaminants like Mercury. I'm not much of a seafood person so I think this is a good addition for me.

    Maybe try the gummies? I know they say they aren't as good as the pills, but at least it's something? I had the same problem with my daughter. I probably took my vitamin 40% of the time by the time I was done with my pregnancy but she's healthy!

    I started taking Vit D3, and an Omega complex because I hate seafood. I purchased coconut oil supplement but haven't taken them as of yet. Anyone take coconut oil?

  • I'm not taking a prenatal, just regular liquid multi with added minerals and stuff...so I'm also taking extra folic acid, vitamin D, DHA and probiotics.

    BFP 5/07 - Kylie born 2/08.       BPF 2/09 - Alexandra born 10/09.
    TTC since 8/13 - diagnosed difficulty conceiving due to LP defect. Took vitamin B and Vitex Berry to help lengthen.
    BFP 2/14 - Missed M/C found at 8.5 weeks. D&C at 9w2d. Partial Molar Pregnancy.

  • I take my prenatal, extra folic acid ( a lot of prenatal don't have the recommended amount) prenatal omega 3+ Dha, zinc (immune booster - cause I am determined to not get sick so many times this pregnancy), calcium +d3 and sometimes and probiotic... I sometimes think I am a supplement junky lol
  • I'm taking an omega 3/DHA supplement on top of my prenatals.

  • My OB wanted me to take a 400mg Folic Acid supplement since my PNV only has 800mg.
    First came love, then came marriage - Oct 31, 09
    Then came a miscarriage March '11
    Then came a baby in the baby carriage May 16, 12

    Waiting on our second little peanut!

  • I took them the last time I wAs pregnant. So I figure it's all safe, the only thing I haven't ok'd for sure is the zinc, but I'm not taking a tonne of it and I figure can go wrong boosting my immune system. Just double check that your doc is okay with it
