Bleeding or spotting at the beginning of a pregnancy can be worrisome. Is this a normal experience at 6 weeks?

Yes, for days or even weeks during the 1st trimester.

  • I called my doctor about this. She had me come in for an ultrasound and everything checked out for an early pregnancy. We saw the yolk sac and ruled out ectopic pregnancy. My doctor told me not to be concerned as long as I'm not filling a pad with blood and it stays spotting. Even though the doctor says it's all good I'm still so so so worried that this will develop into heavy bleeding and miscarriage. I have my next ultrasound on the 3rd Dec. 12 weeks can't come fast enough...

  • Our follow up is Dec 2nd. I am so anxious for it! When they performed the ultrasound they seen a fetal pole and a flicker that she said was possibly the heartbeat. My bleeding is faint but its still scary!!! :)  Thanks for writing back and I will be thinking about you :)
  • That's so exciting! I'll be thinking about you on the 2nd! I should mention I was only 4-5 weeks when I went in for the ultrasound which is probably why there was nothing too much going on :)
  • My first two pregnancies, bleeding meant miscarriage. My third pregnancy, bleeding was undetermined and I have a healthy 12 month old... This pregnancy, nothing. Fingers crossed for no bleeding this time.

  • Okay, I just looked back and you already posted on this exact same topic asking for feedback. I understand you're nervous but, like I said, we've all given our bleeding stories to the last 5 women who have posted this same question. No need for a redundant follow up poll. Fingers crossed for you!
