6 Weeks and concerned.

Today makes 6 weeks! We are trying to stay positive but cautiously, so we haven’t told anyone of our big news, as we experienced a 2 week miscarriage last year. I am concerned because I have been bleeding. We went for our first ultra sound this past Tuesday and everything checked out, that night is when I began bleeding. I bleed lightly into the next morning and went straight in to my doc and they performed another ultrasound, at this session we had a confirmed fetal pole and a flicker to which would indicate a heartbeat. The remaining part of Wednesday I bleed lightly, no bleeding Thursday but today- Friday I have begun bleeding again. The doctor said I shouldn’t worry that with the latest ultrasound the bleeding could be from the implantation?  Because I can't tell anyone just yet I need an out as every time I google something I get more discouraged, is this normal?   Thank you.

Re: 6 Weeks and concerned.

  • Implantation bleeding occurs when the egg implants into the uterus.  At 6 weeks pregnant, this is most definitely not implantation bleeding.

  • If he did a vaginal ultrasound, it is common to have bleeding afterwards.

  • I had both a vaginal exam and ultrasound. My bleeding is light, a panty liner or thin pad seems to work and they are not getting saturated. However the doc said the brown blood was good as that indicated OLD blood, but I'm going from brown to bright red and back again. I am not having any cramps either, I guess with the large amount of blood that I passed with my first miscarriage compared to now is what is keeping me positive.  Thanks for the feedback.
