DH works for a jewlery store so i get a lot of jewlery for all occasions. He was wracking his brain for what to get me as a wedding gift and I told him I wanted something special and meaningful (like antique pearls to go with my dress' I'm big on antiques because they have a history and a story, or something he really took his time on.) On our wedding day during our first look he hands me a box and i unwrap it and it's a pearl necklace. He mentioned he made it which caught me off guard and asked for clarification...he bought all the pieces through the shop at work and the shop manager and him sat down and strung and knotted the necklace.
It's special to me because he didn't just buy a pearl necklace, he made it.
My dh is terrible at gifts. Poor guy just doesn't know how to shop even when you tell him exactly what you want. But that is so romantic and cute. You are one lucky girl that your h is so thoughtful.
DD was my best gift. I found out I was pregnant with her on my birthday last year.
But in case that doesn't count as a gift from DH, when we were dating I told him I wanted a necklace for my birthday (or maybe Christmas, can't remember which one). Anyway, he bought me a gold heart necklace to wear as I had his heart. Cheesy, I know, but it was sweet.

For my birthday this year he kept the girls (2&4) at home and I took 24 hours for myself. I stayed at a hotel for a night...enjoyed shopping...eating hot food without distraction...it was great.
LO is. He was our birthday and Christmas presents to each other for the next 10 years or so :-) That was one of the biggest expenses we cut in order to have LO.
Other than LO, last year SO planned a total surprise dinner at a restaurant I love but we rarely go to. When we arrived, all of our family that lives in town was sitting at the table. We had a great meal and he worked it out with the restaurant to bring in our own dessert: Rhubarb pie (my fav)!! It made me realize that he really pays attention even if he doesn't always seem to listen. He knows what I like.
The most meaningful thing I have received from DH is my engagement ring--though it is not really a gift I guess. It is special because he and his DD designed it together, and she actually chose the diamond. I think that was really sweet of him to include her in choosing it.
I think my favorite gift is my engagement ring. He picked it out himself and the day he proposed was the day of graduation for my AA degree. I had been set on just having the diploma mailed to me but he convinced me to attend instead. That morning I hurt my back (I have a bulging disc and every once in a while I throw out my back if I move wrong) and couldn't walk. I had to skip graduation and was laid up on the couch in jogging pants and a huge t-shirt all day while he did everything for me. That evening he proposed. He had planned on doing that night at dinner. I think its my favorite bc it reminds me that even when I'm at my worst and he is having to take care of me he still chooses to spend the rest of his life with me.
Because they were half of his monthly paycheck at the time and I couldn't believe he'd sacrifice so much for so many months just to save up the money to get them.
Then my dog ate them. And in turn, I almost ate the dog.
I'm being featured in a new pregnancy/motherhood blog during the month of October, so if you ever wanted to know more about my pregnancy, birth, and motherhood experiences than anyone ever should, check out my posts in the link below!
When we met, we were at a party and he overheard me saying I wanted to get a delicate antique watch like my grandmother wore. He apparently had just bought one at a flea market because he thought it looked valuable, but had no real use for it. He went to his car and gave it to me, which was our very first interaction.
At some point while we were dating, I over wound the watch, so I just kept it in my jewelry box and didn't wear it. Without me knowing, he went and had it fixed, then regave it to me on our wedding day. It was so sweet and romantic.

My husband did one of those 12 months of dates for our first anniversary like you see on Pinterest. We had so much fun, he had planned such cool things! The 12th was a trip to Niagara Falls & to do indoor skydiving there! And I added on a few days to Toronto to see our Detroit Tigers at Roger's Stadium. We had a blast!
Then, when we agreed we wouldn't do anything for this anniversary other than dinner (it was 5 days before my EDD) he bought me this big fancy amazing camera that I had my eye on and mentioned I wanted to save up for! I couldn't believe it and it's made taking pictures of LO so much better :-)

Hmmm. Probably when he buys concert tickets for me. I love country music (well not the present stuff) and he doesn't so the fact that he buys and goes with me is amazing. One was on my birthday in KC which is about 5 hours from where we live. We got home around 3am. He had to go to work at 7am and work 12 hours (not a desk job). Poor guy. Love him.
Louboutins
A) Because I love them.
Because they were half of his monthly paycheck at the time and I couldn't believe he'd sacrifice so much for so many months just to save up the money to get them.
Then my dog ate them. And in turn, I almost ate the dog.
DH gave me a pair of Louboutins for my birthday two years ago. I was so shocked and I couldn't stop smiling. DH said if he knew he was going to get such a good reaction out of me he would have gotten them a long time ago.
Although I love my Louboutins, the best gift DH ever got me was definitely my engagement ring. He designed it himself and I love it so much!
...It's special to me because he didn't just buy a pearl necklace, he made it.
I think this is a super sweet gift, but my mind when to a million dirty places the second I read this. Mostly because my H is super perv and if he gave me a gift like this, he would ruin it by adding "I have another "pearl necklace" you can help me make."
I've been given some pretty awesome gifts over the years, but this year for my birthday he bought me a book called "The Panic Virus" that is about the misconceptions surrounding vaccines and all the craziness that was caused by Andrew Wakefield and stupid Jenny McCarthy. This was seriously the most thoughtful gift he found because it is something I feel passionate about.
@cdseno don't worry my husband is also very pervy anytime he would hear of pearl necklaces he'd make a comment...I'm actually surprised he was able to not make any comments (probably because he knew it'd ruin it for me).
