I am RH- and I need to get Rhogam. My docs office is having me do an antibody screen when i am like 26 weeks. Is this normally done? also when did you get your rhogam shot? and did you have to pick it up from a pharmacy and then have your doc give it to you? was it covered by insurance? Mine insurance doesnt cover it and its $180. Also after delivery does the hospital give it to you? or do you need to pick it up from the pharmacy?
Re: If your RH-?
Are you sure your insurance doesn't cover it? That is ridiculous. It isn't an optional shot.
I will get mine around 28 weeks and then in the hospital. I am assuming that my Dr's office will have it on hand, they did not say anything about going to pick it up.
With DS I got my Rhogam shot at 28 weeks. The dr.s office just had them there, there was no pharmacy involved. My insurance covered it.
You will only get a 2nd Rhogam shot after delivery if your baby has a + blood type. They will test and if your baby is - then you dont have to get another shot. And I am sure your hospital keeps them there, so you wouldnt have to pick them up at a pharmacy then.
