How are you dealing with exhaustion?

7wks and 6 days and I am wiped out! I get off around 5, fell asleep at 6:30, woke up at 10, and heading to bed again as soon as I finish typing! Problem is my house is atrocious! Husband isn't particularly domestic so I'm biting the bullet and having a cleaning lady come on Saturday. This excuse to be lazy is cool but not when you can't afford to be!

Re: How are you dealing with exhaustion?

  • Yeah. I have the same problem. The way I deal with the exhaustion is by sleeping. I sleep whenever and as much as I want to....ah, the perks of being a housewife.

  • I guess sleeping is the only way to deal with it. Can't wait for thanksgiving break when I can sleep in
  • I should have added that I do have caffeine every day as well.. certain amounts of caffeine are completely fine.. I must have my caffeine lol.. I'd never be able to survive the day with 2 children without it!

  • Yes, I'm right there with you Sister! I haven't been a napper since Kindnergarten even if I'm super tired so I'm screwed. Only time I'm able to nap is when I was hungover so, that's obviously out. And Red Bull is no good for my poppyseed so there's that.

  • I thought red bull was ok in moderation?
  • "Experts have stated that moderate levels of caffeine have not been found to have a negative effect on pregnancy.  The definition of moderate varies anywhere from 150 mg – 300 mg a day."

  • I'm struggling. Seriously, I have no idea how I'm doing it. My DH works 2 jobs, so it's me and only me most of the day running to and fro with the kids, keeping my hyperactive son occupied and constantly in motion, etc. I try to grab a "rest time" at some point, but that only happens if DS is napping and DD is still at school, and even at that it's usually only 20 minutes. I crash out completely at night. I'm only 5w today and already worried because today I was nodding off to sleep parked on the street waiting for DD to get out of school!

  • I'm finding it very difficult to stay awake during the day. I'm up at 5:30am, leave home at 7am to drop kids at school then sit an hour in traffic to work. At 10am I struggle to stay awake. I usually lock myself in my office and close my eyes for 15 mins it helps a little. I get home at 6 PM. Then it's family time. I'm in bed after 9 PM but fall asleep before having any time for hubby. I'm EXHAUSTED! I hope the 2nd trimester will be better.
  • I take a nap when I can, which isn't very often. I hear everyone on cleaning the house! The plumber is coming today to check our hot water issue and the house needs to be cleaned up a little before I leave at 7. I also have to shower, get myself ready, and get DD ready! Blah.... DH is getting sick so he isn't much help right now but he regrets not cleaning more last night. oh well. Good luck ladies on finding time to catch some zzzzzs

I don't know how I'm going to do it. The exhaustion just started a couple of days ago and between work, running 2 Etsy shops, 2 kids, my husband works nights so I still have to be "on" with the kids when I get home I don't know how I'm not going to be a tearful hot mess soon.

    Edited for grammar.

  • It is so hard. If you don't have any other kids take as many naps as you can, hire a cleaning lady, relax! For me it's as much coffee as it's okay to drink and then pray my 3 boys go to bed early :) Dont worry about your house so much! You are growing a human. You deserve to relax. It's exhausting.
