My husband and I have both officially joined the parents of a little boy club, not by conceiving or birthing a little boy, but by getting drenched in pee during a diaper change. We both knew that cold air usually makes them go and that you need to cover it up, but this is no easy task especially with a wiggle worm like Niko. So, there's the question...how do you avoid getting a golden shower from your sweet, sweet boy? There's gotta be better tricks than covering with a new diaper and the infamous peepee teepees.

I have no advice - I'm just here to commiserate. I actually ended up making my poor son pee all over himself... twice! When I went to lift his bum to slip a diaper under there, he just let loose. I didn't even notice it was happening until I put his legs down and saw he was all wet. Poor thing. Now, I rip a wipe in half and try to just keep it covered.

Both times for me has mainly been on Niko too! I didn't realize until he started fussing and shaking his head as he was still peeing. Just so sad

I'm currently doing what you're doing with a baby wipe covering, but it just doesn't stay put without me holding it with at least 1 finger. This while holding squirrely legs and moving boy parts around to get a good clean is a challenge and makes diaper changes take forever. I'm sure practice makes perfect, but I'd like to save Niko's little face in the meantime LOL

I haven't figured it out yet. At the hospital one accidentally peed into his own mouth. I got hit 3 times yesterday by Evan and twice were during his bath. Poor Alexis also got hit. DH family likes to joke about it because when he and his brother were babies. One of them peed in his dad's coffee and the other into the toaster during sink baths.

I have 3 boys and I just kept a dry washcloth (a regular one) close by and put it over. That way I avoided wasting a new diaper if he peed.

At least with boys you have a little warning they're going to pee-my dd FLOODS lol. Today I took off her wet diaper and in the 2 seconds it took to grab the new one (next to her changing pad) she was laying in a puddle! She has done this several times, more than my boys or other girls did haha.

Keep it covered with the dipe until you're ready to swipe it clean, or keep a wipe (or washcloth if you cloth diaper) to cover it until you're ready to put the new dipe on.

I've been wondering this myself, in a week so far I've managed to avoid it but I know it's coming! I'll start keeping a dry washcloth close by to use to cover.

So far I've only been gotten once, it was during the middle of the night and I didn't turn on a light...so my own fault LOL.

But I've been using the small baby wash cloths I was given at my shower. I cover him with it, then I fasten one side of the diaper, next I take the cloth off, tuck his penis facing down, then fasten the other side of the diaper.

Washcloths have been a lifesaver! We just keep one on his changing pad & lay it on him as soon as the diper comes off .. It's saved us a golden shower several times. Little trickster also taught us yesterday we need to cover it up while he's in the bathtub lol. So we'll make sure to have an extra washcloth there next time

This just happened to DH and I. It's difficult too because we have to use a gauze pad to cover his penis until it heals from his circum. I really like the idea of the washcloths.
