Subchorionic Hematoma

I had my second ultrasound today measuring at 6 weeks 6 days. Baby looked great with a heartbeat of 131. They told me I have a subchorionic hematoma but not to worry, that its common. Most of the time they get absorbed by your body and go away. I'll be honest that I'm a bit freaked out but I'm taking the doc's advice and tryin to be positive about it. Has anybody else experienced this?

I had one with my first. It was visible at my 12 week US but gone by my 18 week US. They're very common. Mine caused bleeding twice.

They are pretty sure I have one. I have had red bleeding consistent with an SCH, but they didn't see it on the first ultrasound. I'm going back in 2 weeks for another scan. My OB said it's not much of a cause for concern, but it makes you more susceptible to bleeding throughout the pregnancy and premature labor.

I had one at with my previous pregnancy that was identified at my 5k ultrasound but resolved itself by my 6w ultrasound. They usually absorb on their own but sometimes they hang around for awhile. Just take it easy and monitor any spotting. Wishing you a speedy resolution with it and congrats on a strong heartbeat!

I may have had one with my first as I had spotting, but they never looked for a source. I definitely had one with my second, they identified it at 9w and by my second u/s at 20w it was gone. Never became a problem.

I've had it with two of my pregnancies and both times it caused bleeding but resolved on its own with no other issues.

Thanks ladies for your responses. Glad to hear everything turned out good for you. I have not experienced any bleeding or spotting yet. Trying to mentally prepare myself if/when it happens. I have an ultrasound on Dec. 18 to check on it. I'm going to call the Dr. today to check on the size. If they says its big then I may request an earlier appointment for my piece of mind.

I went in at week 6 because I had bleeding and doc said I had the same thing. She said to take it easy and didnt seem too worried. I go back next week ill be 8 weeks but ive had some spotting about twice now this week and it has me worried. But reading the comments had me a little more at ease.

They found mine at 4w it was pretty small, but two days later it was huge! I went back at 5w and it was the same size, but well over 5 times as big as gestational sac. I've been on bedrest since last Thursday. Probably because it's so big, and because I'm PGAL! I've heard they almost always resolve, and are not the cause of miscarriage!! I've had spotting almost daily, but it could always be worse! Good luck and just take it easy!:)

I'm praying this is what I'm dealing with. Sorry you are having to deal with this. Fx'ed that it takes care of itself without ever bothering you with spotting.

Just found out this was the cause of my bleeding last weekend! I am glad so many of you have had a positive outcome with them. That calms my mind a bit.

I had a lot of bright red bleeding last night (it was like a normal period for me, had the amount that I would usually bleed in half a day on my period). I had an ultrasound today and confirmed a SCH, baby is perfect measuring 9w2d, HB 185, moving around, and placenta is starting to form. I took the evening off work because I'm horribly sick with a stomach bug and plan to lounge around all day with DS in hopes that the bleeding will stop.
