April 2015 Moms

bleeding (17 weeks)

I have had two big bleeds so far, the 2nd one happening on Monday & the first at 14 weeks. They checked the baby & all absolutely fine but apparently my placenta is lying above my cervix so they think this could have caused the bleed. Both times its happened the bleeding stops almost as quick as it starts but significant blood losd then I just get brown spots for a day or 2. They said they will check the placenta at all my scans now so incase it doesnt move up. I just wondered if anyone else has been or going through a similar thing? Its such a scary time as the blood loss is so much when it happens. Just finding it really hard to enjoy the pregnancy especially as I have had 3 previous miscarriages early on and this pregnancy is the furthest we have ever gone.

Re: bleeding (17 weeks)

  • I know how scary blood can be while pregnant. I have also experienced many losses, with this being my furthest pregnancy to date, so I can relate to the anxiety aspect and the difficulty in just enjoying being pregnant. It's a lot to think about!

Luckily, it sounds like they have identified a cause for the bleeding and plan to keep a close eye on it. While it's still scary it seems that all the proper steps are being taken, so hopefully that should ease your mind at least a little!

Best of luck to you for a healthy and happy rest of the pregnancy!

  • Bleeding in pregnancy can definitely be scary, especially having experienced losses. I definitely can relate to the anxiety aspect. It sounds like they aren't too concerned and know what to keep an eye on so find some comfort in that. I'll be praying for both of you that have posted on full term healthy pregnancies!!

  • Thanks guys! Feels quite a lonely time as none of my friends with children have experienced this so not really anyone to talk about it too! I think bubba is going to be a little trouble maker before they are even here :-S xx
  • FX for a positive outcome at the end of all of this (hug).

  • They said in most cases it should move up so keeping fingers crossed! I still find it so hard to get to grips that you can lose alot of blood but yet the baby is all ok!! You just instantly assume the worse dont you!! Xx

  • I have partial placenta previa diagnosed at 13 weeks. I found out when I stared bleeding too and went to the ER. My doctor told me that 2 weeks after the bleeding has stopped completely you are safe doe that time. However, if I started to bleed again to go to the ER. She put me on bed and pelvic rest for 3 weeks. She doesn't seem to think that the partial placenta previa will be a problem and expects to to get better by the next appointment (December 2nd).

  • Praying everything will work itself out for you. Hugs!
  • I bled early on around 9-10 weeks (I've been told I have a sensitive cervix and they think that was the culprit). I am now 17 weeks, and haven't experienced any further bleeding, but it doesn't keep me from being nervous every single time I have to go to the bathroom. The helpless worrying is the worst. Wishing you the best, t&ps
  • Glad to hear they will be watching closely and don't seem too concerned at the moment--of course that doesn't mean you're not justified in being nervous! I'll keep you in my thoughts.

I'm so sorry for this stress and your previous losses. All I know how to do & what to offer is a prayer!! Hugs to you!!
  • I had my last bleed (and scariest) a couple weeks ago (around 15 weeks). So far nothing in the womb to indicate bleeding, so they think it's my cervix. It usually happens after an exam, sex, #2. I totally get the anxiety ... wish I could pop in every week for a sneak peek scan. I don't have a tip for coping with the worries, I think we have to just wait them out. But just wanted to post and say I get it! Hang in there.
  • I'm sorry you arr having to deal with this. I hope the placenta moves up soon and the bleeding stops. Sending you positive vibes.

  • I'm sorry your going through this :(
I know how scary any complication can be. I hope it sorts out and all is well! FX and praying for you!
  • No experience with this but praying for you and hoping for the best.
  • FX that your bleeding stops and you are able to enjoy the rest of your pregnancy
  • I've experienced slight spotting a few times. First at 6 weeks, then at12. Since then I've had light brown discharge on and off. I'm 19 weeks, 5 days now. Every time I get an ultrasound everything looks great. My doctor is not worried and they don't know what's causing it. I understand the stress and fear... I feel more at peace... I had the DNA test and everything is perfect with my baby girl. For some reason, I think I will have issues with spotting throughout the pregnancy. Especially that just when I think it's gone, it comes back. I hope everything works out with you. ❤️
  • Bleeding is so scary. FX that it stops.
