Real! We even go chop one down in the forest. It's $5 for a permit so it's a lot cheaper than buying one from a tree lot. Plus, it will be a fun tradition to do with the kids.
One year I put up the tree on Thanksgiving and Owen managed to knock it over THREE TIMES by early December. Since it was fake, I was able to pack the whole thing up and put it back up on Christmas Eve.
I'm going to use the fake one for our big tree, but I'm thinking about getting a small potted real tree for the big boys' room. They can decorate it and when we move into the house, we can plant it in our yard.
If we were home for the holidays I'd vote real all the way. But we are generally gone for at least a week around Christmas so we just have a small fake tree.

Fake. Always fake. DH said he wouldn't mind a real one but now at this house with the wood stove it would be a PITA to keep it watered and not dry out and start on fire. @-)

We haven't had one in years, but my family is real-only. This year, I'm going to look for a small potted one so I don't have to worry about it going dry while we're up at my mom's.
We have a fake one now, but I think when DS is a little older, I want to go to a tree farm and cut one down. We did that when I was growing up and it was so much fun to do with my mom and dad.
@COmama1314 how did you manage to live in CO while being allergic to pine trees?
we always had real growing up (did cut our own down a few times!) but DH is more of a fake tree kinda guy...too practical on not having to buy one every year. And I think I may be more handy than he is--if we tried to go cut one down, I'd probably have to do the chopping. So we have a pretty nice pre-lit tree we got at Lowes a few years ago. Can't wait to decorate next weekend!
Currently have a fake tree but once C gets older, we may start doing real. I have great memories cutting real trees down with my dad at the Christmas tree farm
Re: CPW Real or Fake?
And I did think that this was going to be a poll about boobs.
Also real.
All the trees!!!
