Newborn Christmas Gifts

I don't think this has been discussed, what are you planning on getting your little one for Christmas? And what the heck do we put in their stockings? We have an 8 year old who still believes in Santa, and I'm at a loss to what Santa can bring my little guy. FI has suggested just stuff we can use now, but it seems like we have everything I can think of. Any ideas?? (:

Re: Newborn Christmas Gifts

  • As far as a stocking for Connor, I'm just putting a paci in it (the green soothie kind is the only one he will take), some socks because he kicks his off so much I've already got singletons, and some baby books.  Also his ornaments for the tree.

For his presents from Santa, probably just clothes, and I want to get him a play mat for tummy time (though I'll probably get that well before Christmas).  Not very imaginative I know!  Hopefully some other ladies can provide good ideas.

  • I'm gonna wrap up some diapers to put under the tree. He really doesn't need anything but I think DD will want him to have something. My family keeps asking me what he wants. We just had a shower a few weeks ago, so I'm trying to think ahead about toys he'll like in a few months. Maybe books.

  • @SarahHeck‌ didn't think about wrapping diapers lol yeah my SD has already asked me a million times what I'm getting him for Christmas and I'm like :-?? Thank you for your ideas (:

@schrijiver‌ books and paci's are a good idea! Thank you (: I thought about maybe a bouncy seat for the door for when he's older too. I'm going to Walmart to get some ideas as well (and try to walk him out!)

Little girl is getting a diaper champ for her gift and then probably just hair ob for Christmabsws, socks, and other little "needs" in her stocking.  I'm sure her brothers will be the ones opening everything for her.  I made another diaper cover for her cloth diapers that she will get as well and if I am able to finish it her "family heritage" quilt; One square left to embroider before piecing it all together.

Sounds like she will have a good Christmas! I wish I was crafty lol I have no motivation to make things. Maybe I will with not working for a while.
  • This LO doesn't have a lovey yet so that will be a Christmas gift. If LO is a boy he will need clothes so that will be another gift. As far as stocking stuffers depends on if we end up team blue or pink. If pink probably hair bows. For team blue no idea maybe some boy looking baby toys. For either I'll probably throw in hand and face wipes, diaper cream... things we will use a lot of with 2 LOs. We can get away with going pretty light on gifts since DD is only 2 and doesn't really understand yet.

  • We let DD1 pick out 2 toys for DD2 (one is for 6m+, the other is a bath toy). I'll wrap those and put them under the tree from sissy. We also got her a little dollhouse from TRU (when they had their 90% off sale)- that is also 6m+. Plus a soft hello kitty rattle (stocking). I figured there isn't really an occasion around her 6 month mark so, for me, 6m+ items made sense (since she pretty much had everything for the newborn stage before birth). We will just put it away until she's ready to play with them. (:

    Still planning to buy...
-Sophie the giraffe (stocking if it fits?)
    -0/3 mo outfits
    -personalized blanket
    -hair bows/headbands (stocking)

Other ideas I can think of...
    -paci
-fruit/veg mesh feeder for when lo is older
    -regular teethers
    -hats
    -socks
  • If you don't have Sophie the Giraffe, that would be a great stocking stuffer. Also, books, pacis, paci clips, rattles and other little toys, boogie wipes, personalized blankets or burp cloths.
  • @lovingaddi‌ We got DD sophie set for her first stocking. That might be a good idea for this LO as well. FYI Sam's has the soft and squeaky set for quite a bit less than I've seen it anywhere else.

I heard they are pretty awesome! Thanks for the suggestion. (:
  • Probably little toys. We don't have any at all. I know they don't play with stuff for a while, but it seems like a good time to grab some. (I'm talking about the little 2-5 dollar ones at target that are meant for little babies.

  • I'll probably get her something small for under the tree like a mesh teether or something that we'll use in a few months. As far as Santa, he's probably bringing one big gift for all the kids this year. I want to get a playhouse for the backyard, but depends on how cheap I can find a good one.

  • My mom pointed out that the baby's 1st birthday won't be until November (yeah, you'd think that wouldn't need to be pointed out) so she was thinking Christmas gifts would range in age so the kid will have things when s/he is 3, 6, 9 months old.  Thought that was genius!  LOL  So we might get some clothes, toys, and books at different age levels so the kid can grow into them throughout the year before the next gift giving holiday comes around.  My husband and I both grew up knowing that toys and such were for gift giving holidays, not just any time you want them so I'm sure we will have that same philosophy with our kids.  Books on the other hand, those were never denied to us when we asked growing up and we are both avid readers.

  • Yep @babysis013‌! I'm pretty sure he's getting an exersaucer/jumper from his grandparents and a activity table from the other grandparents.

  • I bought a photo frame with "2014" on it to put a picture in.

I'm re wrapping some of the stuff we got at our shower that hasn't been opened yet. Sofie the giraffes, a couple lovies and a couple toys. I am buying them each a stuffed animal (polar bear) from pottery barn kids that I wanted them to have for their nursery.
Our in laws will be there and I know it's important to start stocking traditions.
