stupid questions thread

Anyone got any gems they're too afraid to ask anywhere else?

I got a good one:
Does sleeping on my stomach, squashing my boobs, affect milk production?

  • Do your breasts leak every time you hear another baby cry? Or only your baby? How long does the leakage last?

  • Does sleeping on my stomach, squashing my boobs, affect milk production?

It *could*... If the pressure causes any swelling you could get plugged ducts (same idea as wearing a too tight bra) which if you get often enough could effect your supply :/ I get plugged ducts SUPER easily and sleeping on my stomach now is way too painful... Wish I could, I'm totally a tummy sleeper (>_<)
  • How long should my husband stay off work after I give birth? He keeps pestering me about it because HR wants to know but I have a feeling that having him around isn't going to be all that helpful. I told him to tell them two weeks and he can always go back sooner.
  • How long do you bleed after giving birth?  Also how do you get rid of hemorrhoids?
  • I'm leaking like crazy this time. Not just at baby cries. The other day I just started talking about him to someone and it was Leak City.

I'm still bleeding two weeks out, but it's not much at this point.

DH started back at work today after 2 weeks and I wish he were still around. But I guess it depends on how helpful your husband is and/or how much you enjoy spending time with him. DS1 was really difficult and DH had several months off, and I needed every second of it.

I think two weeks is a great amount of time if he has it. That's what DH is taking and I'm already regretting him going back in a week.

I usually bleed for 3 or 4 weeks, but with #3 I still had light bleeding at my 6 wk check-up.

  • Anyone have linea negra before? Mine developed just before the end of my pregnancy and is still there 2 weeks PP. Is this permanent or will it fade eventually? It's not especially dark, but I'm so fair it doesn't take much to be obvious.

  • Not sure where to put this question, so I'll try here! Anyone else postpartum experiencing weird skin issues? Not only increased acne in odd places (like behind my ears??), but crazy amounts of peeling skin on my hands and feet. It's nothing painful, just weird and annoying.

I have two sort of related stupid questions and I really apologize for the tmi! During my delivery I had to have the vacuum assistance and ended up with an episiotomy and more tears beyond that. I have since noticed that my bladder and bowel control has been practically non existent. I have literally shit myself 3 times. I also am unable to clench my vaginal muscles. Dr Google tells me that this can happen especially in cases with a delivey like mine. But are there other ladies out there suffering from this as well? How long does it last for? Things that no one tells you could happen....
I had a vac-assisted birth and multiple 2nd & 3rd degree tears. I've definitely noticed a lack of bladder control. I'm constipated as all hell though. I'll be 2 weeks PP tomorrow and no signs of it getting better.

  • Formula feeding moms how long does it take for milk to go away? Also do your boobs ever stop reacting to LO? The reacting feeling is just crazy to me, amazing how that works. .
  • 2 weeks PP and it's almost completely gone. I would say that "reacting" period was gone after 4 or 5 days. Or at least, it was low enough that I don't notice it anymore. I still have to use a nursing pad on the left side, but only to keep my bra from getting damp. Thankfully the soaking through clothes days are over.

  • Being a FTM is hard :( I have 2 questions I feel silly asking, but I have no idea what the answer are...

Do you wipe a newborn after just pee? We are in cloth diapers.

My baby girl has the stinkest farts/poops ever. Does this mean I should switch to a different formula?

Yeah, I would just wipe with a mild wipe or wet rag. Urine left on skin can cause some irritation. You could make a homemade wipe that's mild and good for sensitive skin.

As for formula, check in with the ped and see what she thinks and look into trying another type. It could be a sensitivity reaction. I don't have much experience in that area because I BF with sometimes formula supplementing. It sounds like she gets gassy after drinking formula so maybe she's reacting to diary?

Yuck. I had no vacuum or episiotomy just a nasty second degree and I had the same issues plus a UTI. It was awful. I'm 2w4d past delivery though and feeling quite a bit better. I have been actively doing Kegels and can finally clench when seated on the toilet but only after a BM. Still taking Colace. Not sure when you delivered but hang in there. It will get better.

  • @tigerpawie‌ thanks! We use super sensitive wipes on her. We will start start wiping after every change. I don't have a pediatrician appointment until Wednesday, so I will wait and see if her gas gets any better :)
