IUI - Feedback wanted

Dear All-

I am having my first IUI tomorrow and wanted to hear everyone's feedback... Doctors are mostly positive so I would like to hear real stories. Can everyone share the following:

1) Was IUI successful for you or not?

2) How many IUIs did you do before were successful or tried something else?

3) What fertility drugs were you on?

4) How many follicles did you have going into IUI?

5) What day was your IUI on (cycle day)?

6) What day was your BFP?

7) how many babies?

8) anything else you are willing to share?

Hello you may want to try another board. Since this board focuses on infertility, most have us who are here have not been successful.

I'd also add that you'll get a large variety of answers and so it's not particularly helpful to get stats. For example, I've had three IUIs (1 BFN, 1 CP and 1 pending), 2 types of drugs and moving onto a different one next cycle, follicle counts ranging from 1-4, IUIs on days ranging from CD 10-16. IUIs are overwhelming not really successful. But if it works, you save a lot of money vs IVF.

3) What fertility drugs were you on? letrozole, ovidrel trigger

4) How many follicles did you have going into IUI? 2 the first, 1 the second

5) What day was your IUI on (cycle day)? CD 14, CD 12

6) What day was your BFP? ...

7) how many babies? ...

8) Be as pushy as you feel you need to be to get the shit done you want. Your money, body, and life. Don't let them shoot you down because that 'isn't how they do things'. Nurses have protocol to follow, Dr. can deviate from that. I also agree that for as much effort as you put into it, IUI has pretty crappy success rates. Although, as discussed in the DDF thread on this board, IVF success rates are questionable at best.

First cycle was clomid. 2nd was clomid and follistim, third and fourth- femara and follistim4) How many follicles did you have going into IUI? Has been 2 for every cycle but this one I likely have 4-55) What day was your IUI on (cycle day)? 8) anything else you are willing to share? It is a great first step. Wasn't nearly as bad of a process as I thought!

Follistim with Pregnyl trigger. Added Ganirelix and Crinone on IUIs 2 and 3

2 the first time, 4 the 2nd and 3rd

12, but it was a chemical pregnancy/early miscarriage

The time we were "successful" was our lowest post-wash sperm count, but the time we'd gotten the most backup sex in before the procedure. If sperm count isn't an issue, I'd recommend lots of sex to supplement the actual IUI.

We got b/g twins from IUI #1 in 2009. trying to conceive #3 now:

1) Was IUI successful for you or not? IUI #1 worked for twins in 2009. Waiting to hear about IUI #4 now.

3) What fertility drugs were you on? injectibles + trigger

4) How many follicles did you have going into IUI? 5

5) What day was your IUI on (cycle day)? 12

6) What day was your BFP? 21

7) how many babies? 2

8) anything else you are willing to share?I drank Pom juice and ate some pineapple core. At the minimum, it helped to keep me occupied!

1) Was IUI successful for you or not? I miscarried at 8.5 weeks after IUI #2

2) How many IUIs did you do before were successful or tried something else? 2 so far. I will be doing #3 next month.

3) What fertility drugs were you on? Femara and Ovidrel

4) How many follicles did you have going into IUI? 2 both times

5) What day was your IUI on (cycle day)? 15/16 it just depends on how your follicles look on your mid-cycle ultrasound and when you take your trigger.

6) What day was your BFP? 10 DPO

7) how many babies? 1
