Day care vent here

Dear day care provider,

Do not tell me how to dress my baby or how to treat his runny nose, or in general give me advice on how to raise my child. Especially since you still can't figure out how to accurately fill out his daily report of meals/bottles.  And the activity spot on the report has been blank for over a month.

Sincerely,
Client most likely leaving after Christmas.

gahhh. it's been a long, frustrating day.

Re: Day care vent here

  • When I first moved and used an in - home daycare she would telling me every time she did not think he was appropriately dress for the weather. She even told I need to change the way I feed my child. She came highly recommended by coworkers but I was less than impressed. Good luck!

  • So frustrating!
  • DS's teachers have never once given me any advice or suggestions. My parents always seem to have a lot to say. But never his teachers. So strange. If you arent comfortable there, definitely seek alternative care, that is no fun!
  • Our school clicks or comments every.single.morning.

I am not putting DS' puffer coat back there so you can pull him out of his seat, put him on the sidewalk and wrestle him into his coat....taking more time than it does to take him in his weather appropriate normal clothing the five steps indoors.  He would be net colder with a coat - this is logical to me and I am sorry you disagree (the world's most passive aggressive "apology").  I am also not putting him in a coat in his carseat - it's not recommended.

  • I really feel you. On the one hand, DC providers take care of kids, a lot of kids, for a living. They have the opportunity to see a lot and learn a lot more than I do in some ways b/c of their experience. However, that experience does not ALWAYS make them the expert.

And it's not cool when you disagree with something they say that doesn't effect the way they run their school or your kid's class and they act like you're wrong, clueless or just don't care.

What exactly is she telling you in terms of dressing / runny nose suggestions / parenting suggestions?
Yeah, my level of annoyance would depend on what they are saying.
  • I agree with PP's...am curious as to what was said.

If it was something like, LO has seemed cold this week, chilly hands and feet, maybe you could put him/her in something a little warmer?  We've been using a lot of blankets but it's tricky to keep a kid wrapped in a blanket all day.  Or, LO's nose is runny at drop off, and then we don't have a bulb sucker or anything here and so it just drips all day and there's a lot of irritation from the constant Kleenex rubbing, can you suction it before you bring him/her in?  That would not offend me in the least.

If it's, LO is sick again, and I'm not surprised considering you never have a coat on him/her at drop off, well that would freaking piss me off.
